What a lovely thing she is MM. Excellent work!

Thank you that's very kind. She dose still need a bit of body work and paint sorting. And my bumper on the passengers side wont stay in place even though i have new clips. But on the whole its getting there.

I have a really annoying rattle from behind the seats and what sounds like a cable or wire vibrating at certain revs from behind the seats. I guess its something to do with the roof.

It's been a while since I've been on here, seems like I've missed quite a bit here! Nice work on a nice looking Zed. Especially the logo on the indicators look awesome :-p

Hey buddy how life the new car and kid? Yes thanks to you my logo is looking great

Car and kid both doing great, the kid better than the car though, lol. Had some issues but all covered under warranty so far ;-)

My son just turned 2 a week ago:

I don't really miss the Zed to be honest. It was my second E85 and it was really time for something new. If I ever return to it though, it will probably bea newer model.

I get that once i am done with my zed. And made up my mind to move on i doubt i will look back.

I quite fancy a e89 but with a e90 v8!!

So i am going to announce my brake upgrade as a success. The discs i had where past there best and gave vibration. To be honest i am not surprised when i tried machining them up they didn't look to great. But they served there purpose and allowed me to make the hubs and try it out without buying new bigger discs.
So now i have fitted new drilled and grooved discs i am still bedding them in but i have noticed.Much better pedal feel. I have not fitted braided lines and i have not done a full fluid replacement. Stronger braking feel they are not stupidly stronger on dangerously over braked they just feel good.
The reason i have not changed the fluid and put the lines on. Are i wanted to keep some constants to try and gauge the improvement of the calipers and discs. When i put in new fluid and braided lines and fully bled them these brakes are going to be what i wanted.
In total i think these will have cost me around £300 not a bad price for what i confider to be a massive braking improvement.

Next up on the list of jobs this weekend was to fit my 4th Throttle body during my ownership!!! long story short there have been other issues i was putting the TB problem down to. But i had i thought sorted all of them last time and i used a genuine BMW part to rule out dodgy pattern parts. After a bit of head scratching and chatting to a guy who was helping out with with the Toyota build. i checked all the earths on my car and got some very dodgy readings. These where all cleaned and re checked and now all is well.

So my conclusion is that the TB was getting dodgy voltage and trying to open or close when and not knowing where it was. This has been causing the motor that opens and closes the flap in the TB to snap off the teeth on the plastic cog inside the TB. This is what i hope the problem is as if its not i haven't a clue what it is. And its getting very expensive buying these things as often as i am having too.

Didn't you get error messages linked to the TB?
The control of the TB is very well monitored by the ecu. Before each start, the TB is initialized and aligned with the pedal so to speak, and there is a dual potentiometer system inside to monitor differences in signal paths. If there is a deviation, an ecu fault occurs (and maybe emergency idle). A non functioning TB can be dangerous (blows up the engine if its stuck open).

You can get used TB's on ebay for little money ;)

Have you opened up your old/broken TB? (the drive side under the black cover I mean)
Do you have a picture of the mechanism inside? I've measured it electronically (I'm planning to install al larger TB from a n62 and it measures the same), but I havent seen the inside of it. (I can imagine some things but still)

I have opened one up yes to check that the plastic teeth where broken.
I dont have that one anymore or any pictures. I can send you one if you like i have many broken ones you can have

Very interested in your brake upgrade Mat  does this mean the next outing that we won't have to pull over every 30 miles to let the caliper cool down

So you have more than one broken one?
And they all broke because (presumably) the earthing was wrong/ something dodgy in the electric circuit?
When you move the plate with your hands, do you feel if anything is broken? (so a little skip or knack or resistance or so?)
It should be fairly strong because the tb flap can move pretty fast.

I really hope thats the case yes Andy. It really is a vast improvement. I would say they are on a par with what you had in yours dare i say it a little better.

nice car man! I read that you have a LSD Mfactory fitted to your car, You think if i buy the Mfactory LSD or a quaife, i can make the install into the differential alone or you think is better go to a shop? The problem is i dont know shops and the price of the lsd+fitting its very expensive. thanks !

Ok long story short.
1st TB went while it was at my brothers workshop it was replaced with a pastern part.
2nd TB went very shortly after the first (dodgy part was diagnosed and replaced by manufacture) Although now i am doubt that.
3rd TB went and i thought screw this pattern part stuff i am getting a BM one!!
4th one they have all gone the same way something is 100% a miss hear. Found the problem hopefully and its fixed.

The thinking is and i have an electronics engineer the guy who made the loom for the V8 supra i am also working on agrees. That the TB was losing track of where it was closed open how far open. its then been trying to close or open past where it should have been and stripping the plastic teeth of the gear that drives the flap open closed.

I have 2 damaged ones if you want one to butcher and have a look into it your welcome to have it.

Thanks buddy all mine now needs is more power like yours  :driving:
Quite simply and especially for you GET A LSD!!! they are just such an improvement on the car. It frees the feeling of the car.
I am not 100% sure but i think MFactory are doing an exchange. Where they send you a LSD in a diff and all you have to do is swap the actual diff. And then you send back your old one. If thats the case its a fairly simple DIY job.

In fact if you pay for my easy jet flight and buy me a few beers. I will come over for a nice long weekend in the sun and help
I like Spain :D
