Ah you should be ok then you might want spacers for them to fill the arch. I have 225-35 on the front no real issues with rubbing so far. Although my new tyres seem a bit wider and i have put a bigger space on from 12mm - 18mm so we shall see tomorrow how that works out. it looks like it should be ok. The rears are a different story but i have got them not to rub now.

Yeah its not much fun... It might be worth sending them to get sand blasted or chemically striped. I wished i had. I tried not to strip in the spokes but that didn't work out to well. And i had to sand them and re paint the whole wheel. If i where you i would send them away to be chemically striped then polish the front face mask them up. And undercoat and paint them.

I'm already running 15mm spacers up front and 20mm at the rear so hopefully they'll still sit well.

I may follow your advice and send them somewhere, although I may see if I can remove the lacquer just by sanding and polishing the front face, this would mean I don't have to repaint or strip down the wheels - what do you think?

Andrew.

Not sure depends who you ask and what they can do?!?

If the wheels are good and don't need paint. Just get them diamond cut and then no clear coat. The paint May chip when they machine them?!?

I think i'll have a go myself first, and if that fails then i'll send them off to be done professionally. They're in good condition bar the peeling lacquer so i'm hoping not to have to spend too much money on them.

Andrew.

Nice...half the price of the storm knobs..

i wonder how they will compare..?

edit - did not realise there were 90 odd pages here...!!

i was referring to the knobs - whatever page they are on.. lol

So first track day was full of win a whole day and no damage!! Well apart from the clips that hold the bumper on by the lights breaking. Well I think they where broke before. My bumper had been starting to sag for a while.

That and my drivers side caliper starting to stick again on the m42. Lots of juddering for a few miles a hot ish wheel then all fine?!? They did get a bit of a work out today. I have a few pics and a rubbish video I will upload it all Tuesday.

Thanks Ian short fuse
Ps I want a curboring sticker

Those brackets are shockingly bad. They're just cheap plastic. I'm on my 3rd set now in 3 years of ownership. £25 per side. A lot of money wasted.

Are you selling the knobs? Or did I mid read?

I have done in the past I have nothing made up right now. And the round ones I can't make anymore. As I don't have access to a cnc lathe anymore. I am hopping to do them again but I can't confirm when at the moment.

£25 each!!! Screw that I might just use some self taping screws!!!

Probably better off mate, or some of those clips you see on the drift cars for quick release bumpers.

I am going to have a think about it as I have my bumper off all the time. It spent most of the day hld on with gaffer tape today. It looked like a proper race car. Had to be worth 25bhp on track.....

In other news my car was down on power (felt like it) I have no other evidence. And my MPG had been really down averaging 26 fine but haven't been pushing it. An I had been trying to get it up a bit!!

Well I fitted a K&N cone filter and..... I think power is up. Not up from standard but probably very close to standard. But the sound from both is wort a few Bhp loss. And mpg was up to 38  on the way to the track down to 7.5 on track :o and 34 on the way home.

Anyway I think it sounds great and love it anyway.

I broke my bumper clips on the last track day. Phoned up BMW and thought the same as you. £25 or 10p for a screw, let me think lol

Yeah I know I don't think just a screw is the best solution...... I will think but they are brittle and exsphensive for what they are.

Also the kumho ku39 tyres where really good. Thus far I would say better by a large margin than my previous Falkens. Also the Mfactory diff was amazing on this course I really struggled to get the arse out eberything turned off. The only way I could get it sliding was to clutch kick. Literally I was mashing the throttle the car has so much rear grip it's ace.

Also had a very experienced guy drive my car. He drives a e46 330 and was sliding his car. He couldn't get mine to go and was very impressed. So much he might be getting one

Mat

Also as it won't slide now it obviously needs more power  :driving:
If your thinking about a LSD I say do it....

But I have promised I will make it look nice before I do that :(

Mat come to Hullavington Airfield next Friday, even if you can get a half day off work mate. Your more than welcome to jump in the car with me. It's only £15 for a passenger. I was getting some lovely sideways action in my car last time.

You don't want to get into clutch kicking, you will just f**k your car up. Scandinavian flick is what you want to be doing

I have done a bit of driving buddy.... To be fair I only did the one lap of messing about. The point I was trying to make and you will know. Is that the mechanical grip levels with a LSD is through the roof compared to an open diff....

The rest of the time I was trying to be tidy. No way in hell I could do a track day sat in the passengers seat!!!!!
I can make it anyway the car is off the road now until it's paint is done.
