No damage done Andy. And yes i always lube up!!

I got the 225/35 off and swapped ok. I couldn't get the 255/30s off not enough skill or experience i think. Then the balancing machine died  Electrical gremlin i am sure with more time i could have sorted it. But at the moment i have 2 fronts swapped needing balancing. And 2 rears that could be ok and do a track day. And i could kill them off. Or ideally i would like them swapped for the new ones.

I have a place/friend of a friend who can do it today. Trouble is i am at work all day. And what with Oxford traffic and the 3 hour a day commute at the moment. There is not a lot i can do....

So i have been quite busy... Managed to get the tyres done and all the other jobs finnished. The cars has been fully checked over so i am all good for the track day at http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.curborough.com%2F&ei=LuNBVfzfG8X5aobFgLgH&usg=AFQjCNHnCaRSiIAuLneVN4QRj2KOAG-TwA&bvm=bv.92189499,d.d2s tomorrow and i cant bloody wait.

So i made these ages ago and finaly got around to fitting them. They are a 18mm spacer for the front wheel. But they are of a bolt on type rather than the usual bolt through. It seemed to make more logical to me than using great big long bolts. I have also converted to studs from bolts for the wheels. The studs and nuts where really cheap. I will be converting to better quality ones after my holiday in a few weeks

Next up as i have just had new tyres fitted. I went for Kumho ku39s as they where cheap and have ok - very good revies. And a few friends have had them on much quicker cars and rate them. 225-35-19 front 255-30-19 rear and cost just £398 and i think that is bloody good value. Only driven 15 miles so i cant say what i think yet. But i had to spruce the wheels up a bit.
So from this

To this mid polish

To how they are now on the car this morning. They will get a clean this evening.

Next up was a boot spoiler. i made one out of fiberglass previously. And although i liked the lines fiberglass isn't my thing. I work with metal's and plastics mainly. And I do love a TVR so i used the Stagaris spoiler as inspiration and made this for my car. Some will hate it (most probably) But i really quite like it. I like making as much as i can for my car and doing all i can. And spoilers dont come anymore home made than this. It needs a bit of reshaping hear and there but on the whole i am pleased with it.

If you have issues trying to fit a lug mounted brembo, you could always use a Clio 197/200 one as they're radial and maybe a simpler bracket. Cayman S or BoxsterS are also very similar. I've manage to fit Cayman S rear 4pots to the back of my project, but that's now running E46 M3 rear axle.
Good luck with them, always like to see members thinking out the box :)

Thanks for the heads up Stevie

I haven't even got around to offering them up properly yet. I am waiting for my milling machine to finally be delivered. But in my mind i have a plan. The problem with that is..... My mind and reality dont always match up!!

Looking Great - I've still not found the time to polish up and fit my M3 wheels yet. Out of interest, what did you use to strip off the lacquer prior to polishing?

Andrew.

Hi Andrew mine where in a really poor state when i first got the and polished them up. I used a Nitromre type product to strip back all the paint and lacqurer. It took hours and hours. I then had to sand it 4 stages then scotch brite then polish them up. I haven't Clear coated mine at all as once they are polished. An hour a wheel and they come up new apposed to having to strip it all off again. And if there are any little scuffs from pot holes they can be filed sanded and polished out again.

Its a lot of hard work... Have you got the 18"-19" as you may find you get a bit of rubbing when you put them on....

I've got the 19's, but 4x fronts. I've not chosen any tyres yet so i'm going to choose a size and profile which matches the dimensions of my current 107's, which will hopefully mean I avoid the dreaded rub!

Thanks for the info, i'm dreading the stripping stage. Once that's done I don't mind the polishing part! When you stripped the laquer, did you have to be careful not to remove the darker paint on the inner spokes and inner wheel, or did you remove this too?

Andrew.

Ah you should be ok then you might want spacers for them to fill the arch. I have 225-35 on the front no real issues with rubbing so far. Although my new tyres seem a bit wider and i have put a bigger space on from 12mm - 18mm so we shall see tomorrow how that works out. it looks like it should be ok. The rears are a different story but i have got them not to rub now.

Yeah its not much fun... It might be worth sending them to get sand blasted or chemically striped. I wished i had. I tried not to strip in the spokes but that didn't work out to well. And i had to sand them and re paint the whole wheel. If i where you i would send them away to be chemically striped then polish the front face mask them up. And undercoat and paint them.

I have done John. But i dont have much info on size pipe for each engine. So might need you do do some measuring if you wanted some.

Thanks i think they look great.

Brill thanks MM, I'll have a detailed measure at the weekend, get as much info as possible. No hurry at all, if it suits you to do a batch of tips at some point I can happily wait, and I'll pay up front for them. Many thanks.
