Got to be THE most expensive remap in history?I’m considering going for the ACS engine upgrade.
As far as I know ACS are ceasing production at the end of 2026.Got to be THE most expensive remap in history?
Is it still warranted by BMW? Cos that was the ONLY advantage. ACS have always been rather 'optimistic' with their prices.
Pre-GPF B58 cars (not G29s obviously) could have a BMW dealer fitted MPPSK (M Power Performance and Sound Kit). That has a remap and a stainless, valved cat-back exhaust with CF tips. They were selling those, fitted, for £1,500 a few years ago. Makes the ACS 'chip' even more of a rip-off.
Also, ACS no longer have a distributor in the UK. So where would it be fitted? In fact, I am sure I read somewhere that ACS had shut down completely.
Ok thanks for the response, much appreciatedThe 'warranted' remaps (either ACS or BMW) tend to be very conservative; around 10% bhp and torque. For obvious reasons (warranty).
As I said I had the BMW remap on my B58 and didn't notice any real difference TBH. Possibly a 'placebo effect' for the first few days. I bought mine as a 'free extra' cos I wanted the exhaust. The exhaust sounded 'fast' just standing still!
Over £4k is a huge amount of cash just for 'peace of mind' IMO. Many people have remapped the B58 with MHD and Bootmod (there are others) for a few hundred quid and are perfectly happy. I haven't heard (on other BMW forums) of any particular problems with any of them TBH. The B58 is a very strong engine with no real 'achilles heel' to speak of (and it's ten years old now). The only major gripe I have heard is oil filter housings breaking when filters are changed by ham fisted mechanics.
I read the 'blurb' from them when they announced they were ceasing. It was basically 'corporate speak' for "we are too expensive so no-one wants our stuff anymore".![]()
AC Schnitzer Is Shutting Down After 39 Years — Here's Why One of BMW's Greatest Tuners Couldn't Survive
AC Schnitzer will cease tuning operations by end of 2026, ending a 39-year run as one of BMW's most iconic aftermarket performance brands.www.bmwblog.com
I looked at this when I ordered my current one. Warranty is there for the first 3 yrs but WON'T be warranted if you take out BMW extended warranty which I thought was a bit pish tbh at the price of itGot to be THE most expensive remap in history?

TBF modern BMWs need a lot of torque as they are sooooo heavy.Plus importantly 500nm of torques from about 2,000 rpm.
Not for you it wasn't.340 bhp is more than enough
Less than a grand for 435bhp and 567nm. BargainIs that 46bhp for £4k? I'd be expecting much bigger gains for that kind of money! Surely there are better options?
Does the BMW warranty remain valid, or do ACS give you a warranty instead? What's that worth if they go out of business? I think people like Litchfield offer warranties, might be worth looking into.
If £4k is pocket change to you then why not, but in that case why worry about a warranty?
Just declare them. You may not get insured by the biggest companies out there, but it's easy to sort. I have a modified Ford and it is actually slightly cheaper than stock (bigger brakes, various engine mods including remap). All this chat about tuning, and "flashing" the engine, how do you go about it with the insurance company, as if not told, and you make a claim, they will want to somehow get out of paying the claim .
Also, will it be noticeable if you take the car back into BMW.?
Sorry to put a damper on things, but I have to ask...
Not for you it wasn't.![]()
