I’m considering going for the ACS engine upgrade.

400 bhp and 600nm

Has anyone had it fitted ? Any feedback would be appreciated 👍

Got to be THE most expensive remap in history?
Is it still warranted by BMW? Cos that was the ONLY advantage. ACS have always been rather 'optimistic' with their prices.

Pre-GPF B58 cars (not G29s obviously) could have a BMW dealer fitted MPPSK (M Power Performance and Sound Kit). That has a remap and a stainless, valved cat-back exhaust with CF tips. They were selling those, fitted, for £1,500 a few years ago. Makes the ACS 'chip' even more of a rip-off.
Also, ACS no longer have a distributor in the UK. So where would it be fitted? In fact, I am sure I read somewhere that ACS had shut down completely.

As far as I know ACS are ceasing production at the end of 2026.

I’ve not had a car remapped before so I’m a bit nervous about trusting some download on a £47k car. At least with ACS you’ve got a warranty which won’t invalidate my BMW warranty.

Motech fit ACS parts and I’ve used them before on a previous car so I would happily use them again.

It’s expensive for sure but I’m going to keep this Z4 and do some other bits to it as well so at least ACS will give me piece of mind.
 
The 'warranted' remaps (either ACS or BMW) tend to be very conservative; around 10% bhp and torque. For obvious reasons (warranty).
As I said I had the BMW remap on my B58 and didn't notice any real difference TBH. Possibly a 'placebo effect' for the first few days. I bought mine as a 'free extra' cos I wanted the exhaust. The exhaust sounded 'fast' just standing still!

Over £4k is a huge amount of cash just for 'peace of mind' IMO. Many people have remapped the B58 with MHD and Bootmod (there are others) for a few hundred quid and are perfectly happy. I haven't heard (on other BMW forums) of any particular problems with any of them TBH. The B58 is a very strong engine with no real 'achilles heel' to speak of (and it's ten years old now). The only major gripe I have heard is oil filter housings breaking when filters are changed by ham fisted mechanics.

It’s not a remap but a tuning box with full warranty. Joe Achilles did a couple of videos on a g29 with this in and all the bits. All hugely expensive though.


I’m sure it delivers a far bigger difference in performance than the old bmw power kit. Which were far more modest upgrades.
Not that the m40i is particularly slow! I mean how much performance do you need?
Also heard they were going out business or stopping in uk at least, that would worry me as the warranty may be void.
 
I read the 'blurb' from them when they announced they were ceasing. It was basically 'corporate speak' for "we are too expensive so no-one wants our stuff anymore".
ACS have always been eye-wateringly expensive. But they had a reputation for desirable 'bits'. Back in the 80s when many were making money for nothing ACS bits on their BMWs were browny points to their peers. Seemingly the sensible money decided they weren't desirable enough anymore.
