20 grand??

Z4M's can be had for half of that....

Im still waiting for these cars that you mentioned that can beat a 11 second 0-100,234 bhp per ton power to weight ration for the same money..

I think you'll find it was the guy boasting about his Z4M that brought this up actually ;)

Seriously, anybody that thinks driving a <20 grand second hand BMW means they're a bona fide supercar owner needs to have their head checked. My whole point was "Don't throw stones in glass houses" - yes the Z4M is a great quick car, but don't kid yourself that it's the quickest car out there.

I think there are cars that can beat the Z4M for similar money.

The VXR220 being one of them 0-60 in 4.2 seconds etc.

For me the performance and relative comfort (cruise control, sat nav, bluetooth, ipod interface, 6 CD changer, heated seats etc.) combined made the ///M the winner for the money.

M5 is just over a second slower to 100mph than a Z4M..

It also cost a feckin fortune to run one....

The VXR220 is more powerful that the 2.0 turbo.

Agreed Steven,but the VX is a focused track car...

As is a Caterham or Westy than would batter a Z4M for similar/less cash....

Could you live day to day with one though ?

Absolutely not (hence I didnt buy one :) ), but the question was:

I haven't been through the thread but shouldn't the pole be 3.0 si v M irrespective of it being coupe or roadster ? Why seperate the M ?

The odd evo would...... But the big BHP models are horrendous to run...

Sub 10mpg and service ebery 4500 miles or 6 months...

I used to work for Ralliart and adore the Evo in all its forms,i have driven and tested a lot of them but they can be a money pit. They can/do break a lot of bits....lol..
 
Merc SL65 and Evo FQ340 are two quicker cars in same price bracket, to answer the question..... (happy to name more if required).

For the record, I'm considering 2 different bona fide, "supercar" Ferrari destroying ///M machines for my next weekend toy.

I hope whatever I get makes me feel as special as some of the M owners on here :D

Very heavy on fuel & some need oil changes every 4k or 6k miles, I nearly bought one as it was on my short list back in 2006 but got my TVR instead.

I had a FQ330 for 24hrs when I was looking at buying & I did love it & they give you so much confidence but agree they are not easy on the pocket...but the TVR I bought instead wasn't either!! :headbang:

Since when has an SL65 been around 10k ?

I doubt anything will make you feel as special as being an M owner.. :thumbsup:
