any pics of these wearing m sport seats?

I'll get my camera out at the weekend and try to get a few clear pictures to show how bad mine have got.

will be interesting to see. how old and miles on these?

As promised, here are some photos of my seats. You can't really see the extent of the wear, but it gives an idea anyway. The car has done 35k miles from new.

I treated it on Sunday with some "autoglym" leather cream and if made a big difference. only superficially though.

I will post some photos of the car in the gallery today when I get chance.

Cheers

shoe polish dosnt go amiss....seriously. has hidden many marks from the previous owners for me.

ive the red normal seats and the bolster had some wear on it i bought some zymol leather cleaner and then some red leather shoe renovator (added red dye) and buffed it on followed by a clear leather wax. i made sure to remove all the excess so as not to mark my clothing and i didnt use a brush etc...so as not to create a smooth effect on the leather. its miles better than before, i just wish the wear wasnt there in the first place. car only has 22k on it :|

Well dropped the car off today to have the leather replaced on the base of the seat. I get it back tomorrow.

Their in-house guy was honest about the wheels and said if they do them the finish will probably only last 6 months. They can send them away, which will take a 7-8 days where the rims will be split, professionally polished and go through a stove enamelling process (didn't know you could do that with lacquer). However, they still can't offer a guarantee  . Also, BMW said as I need/want a courtesy car they can't be done until September as all their car are out until then :x

I've just got hold of some coloured Balm and it has covered up the wear marks and the seats look like new. Not sure how long it will last but it was £12.99 for a tub so I guess it will last me for years

Here's the stuff if anyone is interested:

Got the car back today after having the leather replaced on the drivers seat. Well, I'm pleased to report that it looks and feels fine. That horrible flexing under the bum has gone and the seat feels like new. I ran my hand over it when I got the car home and It feels like the technician has done what he said he would do and has slightly built the foam up before fitting the leather. Anyhow, you’d never know and it feels fine!

Just the wheels to go now!

I think I have the same problem with my M Sport driver's side seat.

I'll pop into the dealer tomorrow see if they can do the same for me

I have just returned from my dealer who claims that as it comes under soft trim it isn't covered by the BMW approved warranty, I quoted the fact that you had had yours done under warranty and they sounded surprised. They said I could contact BMW direct but I'm not sure if it's worth all the hassle as I only sometimes notice the flex. Still I also have the side bolster scuffing which doesn't look nice I guess I'll try some of the balm to treat it.

My seat has been really annoying me recently, the flexing in the base has got worse so I popped it into have the dealer look at it again. This time the technicial agreed it did feel wrong. It is now booked in for them to look at the base. They have ordered some padding for the base and the leather for it. I'm booked in for the week after next so fingers crossed they sort it first time round.

My seat base has now been replaced and it turns out the movement was caused by the leather cover where it is fitted to the back of the base. When I was shifting my weight back and forwards when pressing the clutch it was causing the leather to rub where it is fixed at the back. Not sure if I amexplaining this very well.

Anyway as the leather is classed as trim it didn't come under BMW extended warranty, but luckily as the service department felt sorry for me and my car is just outside warranty with only 27,000 miles they asked BMW if they would cover the cost as a good will guesture. The outcome was that BMW said they would pay for parts and 1/2 the labour so what would have cost me about £800 cost me £130.

Although I'm not happy that the seat was causing me these problems at such low mileage I'm pretty Happy that BMW covered most of the cost.

The plot thickened!

When I dropped the car off a couple of weeks ago to get the wheels done (I'd had to postpone a few times through work commitments). I pointed out that a line had started to appear in the seat base where two pieces of foam had been used firm up the base. The service representative said they would look into it while they had the car for the week to get the wheels powder coated.

A couple of days later I received a call from BMW to say that their service manager has insisted that as the non standard modification was now starting to damage their new leather base the seat would have to be put back to standard. I was understandably furious. I insisted that all that was needed was for the two sections of foam to be replaced with one. When this didn't work I said I'd sign a disclaimer to say that I would not return the car for any future warranty claims relating to the drivers seat base. Still no joy. In the end the seat was put back to its standard trim.

I'm very pleased to say that when I picked the car up the wheels were back to their former glory :driving: and the seat was fine. Thank god!

I may add that while the Z4 was in being looked at I had a 2.0 diesel 1 Series as a courtesy car. This had a few optional toys on it, one of which being sports seats with inflatable bolsters operated via a switch on the side of the seat base. They put the Z4 to shame, providing loads of lateral support. Not only that, but it was sooo much quieter then the Z too. Now don't get me wrong. It's the sound of the 3.0 litre straight 6 on the Z4 that sealed the deal. However, on long motorway journeys the constant drone and road noise can increase fatigue.

Glad to hear all is OK now, I suspect the problem with your seat was the same as mine and that the leather was creaking where it is stretched around the base so just needed re fitting properly. I have also driven other BM's, 1 & 3 sereies which seats seem far better than ours, of course BMW will never admit that there is a design problem with the Z4 sport seats
