Hey all, i'm looking around at some lowering springs and spacers for my 3.0si roadie..... at the moment its on Msport springs and was wondering how much these lower the car by compared with normal springs, and also how the Msports are vs the H&R's and eibachs height wise?.

Most of the time m-sport lower 15mm front standard supension, and aftermarket will lower about 30mm from standard. That means in your case 15mm lower then current

Be interesting to know what the performance and longevity of each type is too. For example OEM tend to crack quite quickly? After? 30k or so?

Only had standards on mine and going to fit some Suplex M fitment springs on shortly...

my standard springs cracked after 60000 miles, now on eibachs since this month

With the miles and road terrain types I encounter I don't think it wise to go eibach low... as much as I'd like to!

Do suplex or eibach springs eventually fail as well?

I'd tend to agree with this.

Mine's lowered on Eibachs with 19" wheels and it's fine on my daily commute because I know the roads well- where all the potholes are etc, but when I have to go elsewhere then drains, potholes, speed humps etc can be a nightmare, and I try to avoid multi-storey carparks at all costs. I do really like the look though, so it's worth the hassle every so often.

every spring CAN crack, but as far as i've understand, the problem is a wrong production method used by bmw/supplier in the early 2000's. not only the Z4 but also the e46 & e39 springs are prone to cracking.

you can ad a spring spacer pad both under or above the spring which increases the ride height. in that way you have the benefit of a slightly higher spring rate, but not the 'down'sides of the lowering

for some models (the 330Xi for example) this was a factory upgrade known as "rough road suspension"

VOORZIJDE (=front)
3mm 31 33 1 124 321
3mm 31 33 1 096 664 <-- origineel z4 e85
3mm 31 33 1 124 322
10mm 31331135589

achterkant: (rear)
5mm 33531136385 <-- origineel z4 e85
7.5mm 33531136386
9mm 33531127224
10mm 33531136387
15mm 33531094754
21mm 33531091599

note that for the rear, the increases is about 1.6x the measured height, because the spring assembly is more inward then on the front

So am I correct in thinking that if I opt for Eibatch rear springs, and I use 9/10mm spacers then it makes it a similar ride height to the M springs? (Allowing for the 1.6x effect)

This is from when I lowered my coupe back in 2010.

exactly

I'd suggest Eibach springs OP stronger than OEM so less likely to crack, also cheaper than OEM too, check out German eBay for the best prices on them

here's my ride height

Basically running to M springs height but with Eibach. Looks good

I may go down this route in the future, with eibachs and spacers, just to freshen up the tired old shocks. How are the B6s? Equivalent in comfort/ride to the stock M Sport?

I'm happy with the ride height of the car on the stock Sport springs, so spacers would be required as above. Some roads round here can be particularly neglected!

Mines an M but kept suspension and running H&R lowering springs and all great
Low but not too low no bumping no grounding in low car parks etc

Looks great. Where did you get the spring spacers from please?

Here maybe? https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BT52-EUR-09-2003-E85-BMW-Z4_30i&diagId=31_0648
Although there isn't a size variant for part 8 or 11...

Hello there, I came across your post and just wanted to confirm something, so in your case, did you used these PN? I have a Z4M with H&R coils and in their highest setting they are too low for my liking and I think these would help me to dial my heigh perfectly.
