Hello Gents,

I have had a read of the complete post but there is no real answer as to how it is done. In Spain I have searched and searched and can´t find anyone to do it for me :(

If anyone reads this please let me get some help as to how to install it.

Maybe one of the nice guys who have had it done can take some pics and post the details of the install. Stay at the shop and see how it is done :)

Thanks,

Korsou

Hi,

More feedback on Prestige in South Shields....

Back on page 2 of this topic (end of Feb) I mentioned how Prestige had put the steering wheel back "on the piss" when they installed cruise causing me to go back and have it fixed.

Today i collected my Z from Specialist Cars Stevenage where they had replaced an oxygen sensor under warranty - fine.

Not fine was the thick end of £80 they charged me to rectify and make good the wiring in the DME where "someone" had spliced "something" in to the loom leaving bare soldered wires!!

I guess that's life, but if you've had this done check it out as they wanted to try & void the warranty claim at one point due to this.

Cheers

Chris

PS on the positive side it might at least reveal how it's done!!!

Thought you guys might be interested to know i just had cruise retro fitted to my '07 plate M by an indi in Byfleet Surrey. it cost £400 all up including all OEM parts and a a new cowel with the stalk cut out. he would have done it for £300 if i wanted him to cut the existing cowel. it works an absolute treat and for any of you down south looking to have this done i would highly recommend it.

the indi's details are Witchblair Engineering in Byfleet and the own is Justin Blair on 07710 095050. his business partner Stuart it Ex-BMW and they have worked wonders on my car doing CDV delete (which does make a big diffenece!), upgraded the stereo (i had business but they installed an amp, 6x9's and new door speakers and tweets plus an intravee and it looks entirely stock but sounds much better than the logic 7 i had in my old 3.0i) and they upgraded breaks and hoses too as well as coding all the little bits and bobs that the dealer will sting you for (auto lock on drive,

also i have the original cowel for sale if anyone is interested. will post it up on the sale part of the forum tonight when i can take the part no etc off it.

cheers

Phil

Excellent, do you have any more info on this and potential costs. I have the basic config (no Nav) and so would interested to know the options.

Hi there,

my M had the business stereo with the Pro Nav.

The Intravee is a bit lost if you dont have a nav screen as it gives full content listing and allows full search of the ipod etc which is excellent.

in total, including fitting it cost about £1,000 inc the intravee etc, so without this you're probably looking at around £650/£700. the install was 2 x pioneer 6x9, 2 x pioneer 4" mids in the door and 2 x Vibe 4" in the footwell plus new tweets in the doors. all fully wired (rather than splicing the existing wires) and a amp in the boot. i cant remember the amp details off the top of my head as i discussed several with the guys before the install.

if you were planning to do this down south (appreciate you are in lincs) would highly recommend Justin who fitted all of my gear. let me know if you want me to get hold of the amp details and i'll try and dig them out over the next day or so.

Thanks for that. Still happy with your retro fit?
Glad to find someone down south able to do this.

My cowl arrived today so there good for there word.

The only downside i have noticed apart from what i have allready said there is now a small earth wire bolted to the earthing point under the bonnet. Looks a bit cheap like someone has fitted a stereo a little more thought for the earth would have been nice. :(

But still a cheap mod and good value imo.

I couldnt except that IMO... Can you post a pic of this wire?? Theirs plenty of ground points out of view.

Phil Crouch at CPC Performance Engineering in Buckinghamshire retrofited my cruise control and it's OEM standard

reminds me of when i tried to build my own radio, with just a battery and four wires, tried connecting them in every combination i could think of without any joy, till a friend came along , disconnected the yellow wire and threw it away, perfect,.. i now had a wireless ! ..... :tumbleweed:

Bmwz4mc how much did he charge? That's not too far from me so would be perfect :)

I'm not sure as I had some other things done at the same time. I think it was around £300 but I'll dig out the invoice at some point and let you know.
I'd recommend them anyway for servicing etc as Phil really knows his stuff and is a very decent bloke

Thanks for posting back bmwz4mc :) Would be useful to know what he needed. Ive already got the cruise stalk but not sure if he would want the retro cable as well. I guess i could call him and find out.

The cost was for everything - the control stalk, the cowl with an extra cut out to accommodate the control, the required electrical connectors, labour and VAT of course.
