Who did you use out of interest?

Ross (Bowser134) did my Insp 2.

If I had planned things properly he would have done my bearing shells as well, but it's booked for them next week!

Worth keeping an eye out on the quality of extended leather then!

Going to see a Z4M Roadster Friday up Cheshire just unsure on the mileage and service history. What are people’s opinions on service history below

26,000 Miles
Run in service @ 1,136 15/7/07
Inspection 1 @ 6,216 23/8/11
Oil Service @ 18,209 26/7/13
Oil Service @ 24,206 24/11/18

When should Inspection 2 be done? I was under the impression a service should be done every year irrelevant of low mileage

What’s the asking price? Mines done 36k miles so be interested to see!

Would be interested also. Mine has done just over 30k since March 2008, but I’ve always based any servicing on mileage or 2 years, whichever comes first. Being honest, they technically make have missed the 2 year mark by a few months, but only because the car was being dry stored over winter.

The asking price is £20,500 which is high considering the spend which will be needed straight away for Service / Inspection 2 / Brake fluid etc. If the interior backs up the mileage and the car drives well etc i'd be looking to pay around £18,500 to £19,000

I was going to start a thread asking if there is anyone particular people would use in Birmingham / West Midlands for a service. Seen the name Bowser134 appear a lot but unsure of his location etc.

Strictly speaking the 2018 service should have been an Inspection 2, but given the mileage I can understand why it only got an oil service. And I could live with that.

My MC went from 48K to 76K with no Inspection service so no check of valve clearances, and when it had an Inspection 2 earlier this year 5 of them needed shims!

I've spoke with BMW UK and all servicing / MOT's have been completed by a BMW garage. Unsure why various services have been missed.

If the car is right for me and ticks all boxes other than service history I could live with that and just hagle the price down based on the fact i'd assume I'll have £1,500 service bill to do swiftly

NCB Autokraft Ltd located in Earlswood

Is this the place ran by a chap called Noel? Think i've seen this place mentioned a few times on other forums

The very man, he has been around BMW most of his adult live either working on them or racing them.

Good in ‘some respects’ that the servicing and mot’s have all been done by BMW Dealerships..
However, some - more versed members on here - May / Will, disagree.. :?

...Airing the fact on here, that your intending potentially to kick the seller in the slats, to the time of at least £1.5k off his ask - isn’t the best form of securing a purchase, IMHO!
#JustSayin

Best of luck however, purchasing your dream car OP..
There’s lots out there for sale - hope you find a Keeper & a Gem

I can imagine Indy’s are preferred by most!

I mentioned £1,500 service spend not knock the price down by £1,500 but based on the spend requirement there is room for hagle IMO

I do hope I find a good one. Hard to be patient when I want to get in one ASAP!

I prefer to use a good Indy because they are cheaper, tend to do a better job, and will do jobs main dealers won't and will fir non-OE parts like polybushes, etc.

And Ross at RBM Hampshire spent 15 years at Sytner so he has worked on these cars since they were new. There are probably plenty of staff at main dealers who've not seen one before!

Good luck finding the right one.

And while there always seem to be a few for sale, there aren't that many around. The UK only got about 600 each of Roadsters and Coupes.

Like you say I can imagine most service technicians at BMW Centre's rarely work on these cars and are use to Computer says change this etc etc.

Throughout this forum i've seen great things about both Ross @ RBM and Noel @ NCB Autokraft so i'll most likely be using one of these for future services.

I didn't realise the manufactured numbers where so low in the UK! Fingers crossed the one I see today will be a cracker!

Cheers

Inty blue ZMR 85k with ask £10750 looks cheap right now in the M roady market , would need to see where it sits in its service schedule as 14yrs old - 85k would tend to suggest either a recent ins2 or its looming for new owner , similar with brakes so very possible a £2k spend on the horizon but well worth following up if you are in the market for ZMR with a limited budget .
Backboxes need re-aligning but it looks crisp enough in the pics

71k titanium silver MR £14750 ask
Always nice to see a previously owned Z return to the market 8) this silver ZMR was possibly THE best serviced of all the 4 ZMs ive owned , for 5 years the previous owner followed oil-ins1-oil-ins2-oil but mistakenly thought it was due yearly so from around 35k to 65k it was way over serviced which is a rarity with these cars even for enthusiastic forum owners  comes with added trinkets of Apex arcs - PS4 tyres & KW suspension kit so a great example https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202007271764443?radius=1500&make=BMW&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=price-asc&postcode=bb120hr&model=Z4M&page=1

Appears to be 29 M Coupes for sale in Autotrader at the moment - is that a record?
It was pretty predictable & imo a sign of the price difference between the MR & MC having reached (& breached it would seem ) the point where demand to own a Z4M swung in favour of the roadster that offered similar thrills for approx 30% less ££ invested .
The roadster market right now hasn't changed in the past 4 years in terms of values / miles & decent cars sell pretty easily with not many currently available for those looking to buy .
MCs on the other hand have slid in both demand ( numbers for sale reflect this ) & residuals slipping back to where they were 3-5 yrs ago .
After enjoying a significant price difference from the MR for a good few years they reached a peak 18months - 2yrs ago & since then its been a noticeable fall back in values for them .
Right now if i was after a decent 70k MC id not want to be paying over £17k :o similar MR £14k ?
add 10k to the clock & drop £1500 of both those numbers , jmo thoughts of course , others may well disagree
