Cheap as chips ex forum owned MC with CSL wheels. Sounds like it needs a little tidying up though.

I was really keen on buying this car when it was on the forum from member angus328. I exchanged a few PM's but then he stopped so I assumed he had sold it.

The pictures in the autotrader advert are the same pics angus328 had in his advert - http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=63440

Insurance renewal coming up, with the recent bout of insurers valuing our cars using databases like glass I am in the process of finding out how my insurance company will value my car if anything happens.

In preparation I put together this list of Z4M coups for sale in the UK

My car has 33k miles, the average price of the closest 3 cars is £24.5k.
Glass estimates between £7,930.00 and £10,300.00. (avg £9k)

We will see what they say, but I don't want to pay a high rate to cover the full cost of replacing the car if they will never pay it.

Note that this is 13 unique cars. I just went through the first couple of pages of google results. If you guys have suggestions on getting any more data for this snapshot let me know

Id probably get rid of the Hexagon car from your calculations.

I doubt your insurance co would fix value at £24k but would be great if they did.

If that's what it takes to replace it shouldn't they? There aren't many of these cars on the market at any one time. And secondly my particular car happens to get a lot of love and attention, under 3k miles per year, yearly service with all the bells and whistles done, multiple day valets etc.

I also have about 15k in mods so replacing like for like if stolen will be more like 40k.

Anyhow, will let you know what I find out

There have been a few recent threads where cars have been written off and insurance companies are giving very low (Glass) valuations.

If you can find a policy with an agreed value then you shouldn't have anything to worry about if the unfortunate happens.

I'll be looking for something similar when mine is up for renewal in Aug so keep us updated.

Glasses is completely out right now, you could barely buy a standard z4 coupe for that budget. I am going to look at classic car insurance if this is the best 'market value' offer I could expect from my insurer.

Sounds like you need to be on an 'agreed value' policy then - otherwise you'll have a fight on your hands to get a decent payout.

Saying that, my insurer (if you forgive their tardiness) offered £9,300 for a 150,000 mile 2006 Z4MC - and that was before the £4,500 adjustment for mods. So a 30,000 miles example should be worth much more than my £9,300.

I'm guessing the 'retail' Glass/Parkers/Cap guides are useless.

I suspect that the valuations being low is a good thing overall for the owner community, unfortunately to the detriment of the small percentage of users that have required full-value payouts. Z4Ms are very cheap to insure relative to non-M Z4s and that's probably because they are rarer, not very "shouty" and more often garaged or parked off street. Premiums don't take into account their relatively recent surge in desirability; quite evident when you look at insurance valuations of arguably less desirable Porsches, Maseratis etc. that would now fetch a lower price than Z4Ms on the open market.

Monthly update, price are on the up again as expected, just £125 over last month but £450 above this time last year.

** The prices shown are for my car and from the same source each time **

What source says your car is only worth under 9k??

Glass.co.uk

A bunch of insurance companies use this or similar to value cars, we have recently seen a couple of members get offered silly low amounts to scrap their cars after incidents

The value is meaningless in a way, but as we have seen some insurance companies have been quoting similar figures for write offs.

To me it's more interesting to see the trend, and that year on year the prices do seem to be going up.

He did say it is a valuation for his car, and if you have seen it, you know that is an optimistic value as well

Have you stuck you ///Mr in to see what it's worth these days whilst Mr. Bing is looking after it for you.

Nah, I can only imagine it would be like trying to see what your ex wife is doing

Should have kept it now I have two new garages :(

I was paid out £16k for my roadster plus I got the salvage back fairly cheap.

But my accident was non-fault.

Fault or non fault it shouldn't affect the payout values.
