M market watch

It looks like the Z4M on collecting cars has hit £13550 so far plus the 6% buyers premium...I am not confident bidding that high I don’t think, any thoughts from the experts?

At that money you would have to ask yourself do you want the car or is it the trinkets that appeal ?
Jmo but its already ( at £13550 + 6%) past its current market value for the car unseen & that's assuming zero spend :?
From here on its all about what you value the wheels & airbox at as to where you are happy going with the final bid .
You can also see the seller set reserve at £12k which indicates what they value it at

Despite the desirable wheels and airbox I wouldn't want to pay that much for one with that mileage that I hadn't even seen, but that's just my take on it!

Then again mine cost less than that on 76K, albeit with CSL Reps and no airbox.

Just 40 mins to go https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2008-bmw-z4-m-coupe

Well the buyer certainly wanted it bad  £16k with the fees for a 91k car , clearly the trinkets added their own worth

Well it ended at £15,060 - that's virtually £16K by the time you add the buyer's premium! :o

Looks like someone got carried away, and makes "blobslosak"'s look like a real bargain!

ETA mr wilks beat me to it.

There were 2 guys going knock for knock at the bell , not sure if they thought they were on ebay :P you can't last second bid to win , there has to be at least 2mins gap for the winning bid to take it after the time expires .
Whatever its a great looking example in a very rare colour with very desirable mods , maybe the new owner will appear on here :driving:

Thanks all, it was a lovely example from what I could see but I wouldn’t ever have gone to that for it...not in our current market and after seeing what others seem to sell for?

I will continue my hunt...

Out of interest, doe any of the lower mileage ones (30-50k) ones sell at the 22-24k asking they seem to attract? As far as i can see, they seem to be sitting.

Good looking car with a few desirable mods that were a plus for the bidders. The carbonius airbox, with Alpha N tune would have made it an exciting car to drive, and the CSL rims was probably a bonus too. Nice service history as well so a win for the buyer and the seller, especially in these difficult times. We thought it was a 12k car, as it was a bit untidy and needing paint in the usual places, and the head off at 70 miles was a bit of a concern.
Like everything today our beloved 4M coupes are slow to sell, moreso over that 20k stg mark. And we will see a fall in the asking for all brands as the market adjusts to the "new" normal, if we ever get back to it.

Well put and hopefully the new owner will join the forum if they aren't already a member and we will have a new vehicle to follow on its future journey.

As for earlier comments on what forum vehicles have recently been bought or sold for I have to say that leaves a bad taste in my mouth - at the end of the day as has been said numerous times before a car is only worth what someone will pay and that is always a function of a unique set of circumstances.

On a positive note in addition to the E85 3.0i SE we recently acquired for my son I am now waiting to collect another E85 3.0i SE once the current restrictions are lifted - neither were on the forum before so that's another 2 joing the fold

Strong money, particularly at auction. It's a good sign for owners that these cars are still sought after, even in these crazy times.

That's the spec I wanted to get from day one. I really want to go over to a coupe if I stick with a Z4M.

Thing is...

Would you actually buy any of them, even though on the face of it they look cheap?

High Miles,Pov spec,high owners..

They are the sh!t end of the stick....Although if that M2 had done half the miles it would be a nice proposition.

Were there that many options on the 1M? I thought they were pretty much a set spec as it was well equipped to start with anyway? I guess the biggest thing was if they chose to get it in that launch spec Orange?

I like the 1M due to have small and fun to drive (I've driven 2 of them on test drives with my old man), also I liked the more simple layout, which reminds me of my Z4MR. Also with them being 6 speed manual, it just make them a really engaging car to drive. Also with it using the N54 twin turbo, you can really tweak the power to allow it to pester a M4 with little difficulty.

Love the 1M but it is a hugely overpriced car.

They are rare in the UK and so go for silly money but not as rare on the continent.

Have a feeling that COVID-19 may burst the price bubble on em...

I think the car market is going to get flooded and prices will go down the sh*tter when we can venture outside again.

I sold mine on 49k miles for £23.5k back in October. Think excellent condition cars with all the correct service history will sell for good money but who knows with the current cluster f*ck we’re in. It’s completely untrodden ground but we can all take a good guess which way the sports/ luxury car market is heading.
Im still looking for a replacement but will certainly be waiting a good while longer now.

Just looking at that one on collecting cars, I'm not surprised it went for what it did. The airbox and wheels, assuming you like them, must easily add £1500-2000 over and above a standard example. It's also a fairly rare colour.

The only thing that struck me as strange was the beige seat plastics and door cards. I thought the M always came with grey/black plastic with just the leather inserts changing colour?

Fwiw, I also think the paint looks good. Minor swirls are a non issue and I'd argue that the road rash is par for the course. You can't expect a 12 year old, 90k car to be perfect.

I was wondering about that too. It’s also odd that it has extended leather on the transmission tunnel but not the door cards, so maybe they’ve been swopped at some point?

Looking at the stitching/panels they are non ///M seats, and as said never seen an ///M with full beige door cards.

That has been messed with as from factory it had full black interior.

Chassis is LG19039

Pure guess, but it might have been fitted with racing seats by a previous owner and the standard seats and door cards sold?
