Exhausts look very dodgey on this car. My guess is the clamps have failed and they have just used a sleeve to fix.

I have it down as being sold by a dealer in March 2016 for £18,995 at 69k miles.

You were correct some years ago - nowadays? i'm not entirely sure they're doing such a great job. M4 isn't exactly a winner - impressive, but no passionate following (if anything quite a bit of community slating, nevermind outside the BMW fanboy world), m2 looks cool but seems to lack something.

I dont disagree Jimmy..... But the M4 is very popular,i see 4 every morning in a 6 mile commute.

However it hasnt really been well received by the press,and a lot of the owners seem to flip them quickly... I know that they have shed a few quid from new, but not as bad as the F series M5....

The M2 will become a "classic" in the future,thats cast iron...... Low units and an M badge,thats all thats needed.. Doesnt matter if the car is good or bad...

i'm not sure i'd agree about the M2 - there's nowhere really praising anything about it specifically above anything else. I think BMW M used to do well as a result of generally decent handling, modest but smart interiors with some special engines - they've not made a special engine since the previous generation, interiors are largely identical whether you spend £20k or £100k, and handling seems to be where everyone else has caught up or overtaken.

Sad times really. I think BMW is now a better ownership prospect in their M-lite category (m135i at 3 years old with 30k miles for only £18-19k.. not shabby).

Have to agree. The M2 is a great car but its spec doesn't represent 60k as its like the 1er to 2er basically entry level interiors. The M4/3s don't float my boat either not enough character.

Well I can tell you it works from a valuation perspective - see the Ferrari 550/575 market. I actually know who was behind that. He deliberately bought as many as possible and then when people noticed there weren't as many for sale any more he started churning them or at crazy valuations.

What you forget is that people anchor their ideas about valuation to what they see. There's absolutely no reason why a car has any value whatsoever beyond its scrap value. Everything above that is made up, and part of what makes that is benchmarking, and the rest is emotion. You can shout and scream that the Z4M is only worth £10k all you like, but if a large proportion of those for sale are up at £25k then that's what buyers will expect, and what's more that's what the next crop of sellers will see as their 'baseline' because the market is 'rising'. The cycle thus continues until it doesn't.

So all it takes is a bit of manipulation and a new price becomes 'normal'.

This behaviour is highly illegal in financial markets, and people get heavily punished for it. However in non financial assets there's no regulation.

Precisely the point I made about perceived market valuation. If a potential buyer decides they want a Z4M they look on Autotrader, carandclassic, pistonheads et al and base their spend level on that. If they're all up for £20k+ they either stump up that cash for the best available, or they look elsewhere.

Oi - nothing wrong with Alu trim

I've got it - i'd not swap it for any other tbh, cabin would be pitch black without it. Coupe ain't a light place to sit (especially with tinted rears )

I'm with you on that one! I looked for alu as imo it's a bit tacky to have fake carbon fibre, and it looks so dark/bland without the alu! I've considered getting a second set done in Interlagos to match the exterior. What do you reckon?

It's not fake carbon fibre though, that would be like the 3M wrap. I'm just not a fan of silver interior trim. Even changed it out on my previous zed. I prefer a dark cabin dashboard wise, less to distract. And if the sun ever caught it from behind it could be literally blinding.

It's brushed Alu, not the plastic crap that was in the z3 ain't nobody got time for reflections. pretty common trim material for those bits in lots of cars now tbh.
