M front disc's and pads

Jeez that's reckless. I would be having serious words with the seller, those brakes on this car is potentially lethal. I don't believe that's an accident, someone purporsely trying to save money. Any half arsed mechanic can see the discs are way too small for the caliper.
On the plus side I'd say £500 sounds good fitted with pads. The OEM discs are floating, as opposed to most aftermarket ones which won't be so don't be fooled by cheaper prices. Know where I'd be winging that bill too though.....

Well i have done but as it was a private sale there isnt a lot i can do. Yes your right about someone should notice i took it in as i thought it looked strange, unknown to me as it looked roughly the same setup as my non M, i had a call from my garage almost straight away.

He is giving me the best price he can do as he said its a horrible situation to be in just before Christmas, or in fact a situation after buying a car like this.

Good luck with it Kingash. At least you know the car will be nice and straight, plus safe in the knowledge that you have miles and miles of punishment before they need looking at again.

Once you get this annoying episode sorted, you will love the car!! Mine spent its first month of my ownership back in the dealer's yard, took a while to connect with it as a result but I love the thing now!!

Just to be clear Kingash I wasn't having a dig at you, the garage or whoever fitted them is the reckless person.
Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction and you've got a lot of enjoyment ahead of you, great cars

No offence taken, its just what happens and i hope so! Only driven the car a few times and haven't opened it up fully, which im glad now i know about the brakes! Just have to polish it for the time being haha

Cant wait to give it a proper drive :driving:

When was the MOT on the car done..

Having the incorrect brakes on would have failed..

Perhaps you could speak to the 2 garages that inspected the vehicle and see if there was any mention of this problem?

If your close to Manchester/ Cheshire and buy the parts I will gladly fit the free of charge to get you on the road..

A True Gent

Just had a look at the advert for this car and some very nice angles taken that don't show directly onto the wheel/brake disc. :o :( :tumbleweed: .

Yep, there is only photo where you can actually see the front disc brakes at an angle.

Disappointing reading this folks... hope it's a one off.. faith restored by Z4m - 2006 post.

Hope you get it sorted and he does the right thing by you mate, I'd be mortified if i'd had sold you it & would fall over myself backwards to help sort it

Its a very poor state of affairs...

Fellas,

Is it my eyes? the photos showing the car for sale are not great for viewing the discs, but I'm sure the front discs in the pics are drilled.

The photo of the disc from Kingash is solid.

If that is the case the photos of the car were either old OR the discs changed prior to Kingash getting the vehicle.

I think your right mate, the discs in the advert are different to the pic on this thread!

I have to agree! But the pictures are not conclusive and absolute!

To shed some light on this i have all the original advert pics and they are the same as what i have on now. They are grooved not drilled like the rears

To be fair, loads of us looked at the ad, including me, and none of us noticed...

Going to the garage that did the MOT won't help, it was too long ago for them to care or for anyone to prove they've not been changed.

As for the caliper clip... Either a very unprofessional garage, or a DIY at home job and it was forgotten...

Think you have to be pretty awesome to spot 25mm difference on a pic on the net...

Its been to garages for repair since the MOT and that would stand out a mile in the flesh... As it has done to the OP techs...

Yeah, but it is easy to see the drill holes in the rear. The thread when Paza had it detailed is here, but unfortunately it had different wheels on...

Lol.

2 guys owned an M Roadster or Coupe and didn't know it had the wrong rotors on it. I mean, if your buying this kind of car - you probably should know a bit about it. I think I would spot those rotors a mile away, as the correct rotors are drilled.
