M badges on none M cars

Wow, popped into Lovett's in Swinedon today and the ///M branding is everywhere. It seems the M badge is now the equivalent of the S-Line
Audi's. Trouble is that BMW doesn't have the R and the RS ranges as well.

There was nothing to interest me. Just a sea of diesels. 1 series hatches. 3 series saloons and 5/7 series in diesel form. Almost all 2.0d's.

There was a 435 demonstrator but after 20 minutes of walking the lot without being offered a coffee I buggered off to Audi.

Nothing much to see at Audi but at least someone came out to chat and ask a few questions.

Clearly they're having a good month.

If BMW can stick an M\\\ Badge on a 135i. Then I have no problem with them sticking one on a 118d either. Similkar cars in prety much every way as I see it. :fuelfire:
 
What about Alpina badges on cars that aren't Alpinas, or even AC Schnitzer badges on OEM cars ? Or are people only concerned about the purity of ///M ?

As I said, I, for one, don't care - and sometimes it's quite funny....

...anyway OEM Alpina badges are too expensive for casual use and the shite that gets sold on eBay usually looks totally wrong

I think this is worse then the M badge.. i saw an Fiat Punto with one on the way to work this morning... with the state of the car it wouldnt have made the journey over the channel let along on the ring.
 
Maybe it just meant "I went to the Nurburgring in my other car."? Or not ...

LoL, this needs to be enforced rigorously - car AND driver need to have been, together or the sticker is not earned. Also unless you have done the full combined circuit, you need to cut the twiddly bit at the bottom off ...

I like your thinking, also certain sections could be coloured yellow where people bottled it a little lol. :rofl:

Could be a nice little earner for the 'Ring - officially watermarked and tamper-proof stickers for everyone who has done the circuit showing bottling points, bravery points and the official time. For those that bin it on the lap a special marker at the point where they lost it and the recovery/ repair bill :lol:
