Low revs when stopped and occasionally cuts out out

OK so order a filter assembly rather than just the filter....sorry to keep asking questions

Yes. Call your local dealer and get the part number for the filter and filter housing. Look up online to see if it is cheaper elsewhere (but still genuine).

I usually buy MANN oil filters on Amazon, but Mahle are also an OEM. No need to buy BMW branded comsumables.

Bit odd.
I have never had the that centre piece come off the hexagon cap.
Does it clip in or screw?

When i have pulled off filter it stays in the cap.

That's because it shouldn't come off!

I've always assumed that it is a single piece but I can't see anything broken so it might clip on.

For the sake of £38 from BMW I'd just replace and investigate later.

Yes I will get both....for the cost i dont think it's worth messing about with cheaper alternatives.
Good plan for now.

It should come with two rubber O rings. They go on the filter housing, coat in a little fresh oil. Filter should just push firmly on until it clicks.

But once you know what filter you need it can be quite a saving. £6.13 delivered on Amazon for a MANN oil filter at the moment.

Hi all, decided to send the car to the zed shed after a great conversation with Mike last week....had a quote to get the car shipped the 81 miles so fingers crossed Mike can work his magic....
