ive never tried clay but i will do now as there is black specs i have to remove up close.

Small black dots sound like tar spots to me….. .. so far better off using a good tar remover than clay to remove them...

I'm not saying don't clay... just don't use clay to remove tar... it's far better, faster and easier to use a dedicated tar remover for that purpose.

I decontaminate the car in 3 stages:

1) Tar remover where needed (I use Tardis)
2) Decontaminate gel to remove iron contaminants from the bodywork (Wolf's decon gel)
3) Final "mechanical" stage, the first 2 being chemical, is then my clay mitt... which is just like a clay bar, only lasts much longer...

Well we made it through one week of ownership before a loud clunk and the end of a spring was seen bouncing away into the distance in the rear view mirror....

Just off to have a close look in the garage :(

I'll be buggered if I can spot anything missing from any springs, rears are reasonably new as already replaced once looking at previous MOT's.
No funny noises, odd handling or anything noticable, I'm going to put this one down to paranoia and something spring like in the road we've gone over!

Maybe you hit a part of a spring from a z4 travelling in front of you. They moult spring parts like a cat moults hair on a zed roof

Will be straight on the phone tomorrow trying to source some Eibach springs, bit earlier than we wanted to but bettersafe than sorry. Got a big drive next Friday so want to be 100% sure it's ok. Annoyed with our local BMW dealership though they can fit us in until 10th June!

Just so's you know, the OEM springs are Eibach...

Really? I'm surprised there are such frequent failures, been pleased with them on previous cars, these are the ones we are looking at http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/lowering-springs/car/bmw/z4/2007/3-0/eibach-pro-kit-lowering-spring-kit-lowers-front-30mm-and-rear-20mm

Couple more jobs done today, stumpy aerial and a bit more carbon wrap added in the cabin to hide the scratched aluminium

Top tip, lots of heat from a hairdryer, stretch it over the corners to get it tight and don't trim too close to the edge.

Thank you!! :D

Did you really rest the polishing mat/disc on the tarmac before usage??? :| That is golden numero uno no no rule in my book... Nothing touches, if it does touch ground or if I think it has it's thrown away... I am personally so so paranoid about grit sticking to things, but it looks like you know what you are doing there!

I wish I had the space to snow foam and jet wash, but proximity to neighbours cars and risk of me having to wash their crap-mobiles from excess spray is a put off :(

Wow your car looks nice though!! Even though I own a coupe myself, I still can't resist ogling others...

Love the carbon wrap, top job!!

We've been MIA lately as the car's been off for a wheel refurb at The Wheel Specialist in Fareham, picked it up this evening :)
Nothing but good things to say about them, friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. We've left the Civic there to get it done as well now.

It wasn't all plain sailing though, ended up with 2 new rear tyres as there was evidence that they both had been driven on whilst flat and were not safe to put back on.
An email and a couple of calls later saw BMW cover the cost for them so a bonus really!

Also had a chance to fit the Eibach springs, so sitting just a little lower now.

Next up will be getting something done with those nasty wheel bolts, calipers and discs!

Looks brilliant mate! Not usually a fan of 108s as I think they can date a zed quite badly but with the black and silver here you've got it just right :D
