Hi Guys,
Recently been having to keep topping up my coolant so thought I would take it to the garage today to see where the puddle in my undertray was coming from....
Turns out from what we could see it is the Thermostat housing and is making the block where it meets furry so it must have been doing this for a while
So I spoke to the guy about it and he recommended I used K-Seal?? Surely on a Z4 this is not what you want? he said as the leak was only small I should not worry and run this through and it would seal it all up?
Is this right or should I start ringing round for a quote on changing this? I have never let the coolant drop by much so never had the light come on but I am very particular with my cars and have to have things perfect or they start to get to me!
So now I am thinking I would really like to get this fixed but what would you all recommend I do? Should I just replace the housing like this guy said as this seemed to be where the leak was from and then get the coolant changed at the same time?
What is the general cost you would expect this to be as the guy at the garage said it would be about £250-£300 does this sound right? Or would I get a better deal going to a BMW specialist?
I want to get it done properly but dont want to pay over the odds, also has anyone got a 'how to' on changing this thermostat as I have a couple of friends who would be capable of this if I gave them step by step instructions.
Thank you in advance for your help
