I'm now a step closer to painting my calipers :)

double the leverage eh? clever.
but not if it snaps due to being hollow. jus sayin
bit of copper grease on yer wheelnuts every time tho to avoid havin to thrutch about.
but then as you know, i'm not really an authority on overtightened bolts

Yeah I'm watching and learning from your mistakes

Don't tighten the nuts up with the same bar!
i was thinking that: u'd risk stripping the threads using a force at 45degrees as per that bar?
careful marlon..... it doesnt look right mate. 90 degrees (perpendicular) turning moment. no more no less.....

Even a cheapie torque wrench for re assembly is better than none

£20 will get you something that's consistent enough!

Not advised as it can lead to over torquing fasteners

Agree with others, I would be wary about using that especially if the last time your wheels were fitted it was by a typical numb-nut tyre fitting monkey! That angle of attack just doesn't look right and if the socket isn't a tight fit on the bolt head you risk rounding the head off, especially when you get to the locking bolt with the key adapter.

FWIW I bought some winter wheels & tyres last November for my 325ti and all went well until I got to the last one - F**k me it was tight! Even using my torque wrench I put my back out, but when I fitted the winters I torqued them properly!

Still put an 18" breaker bar on my Christmas list just in case (it doesn't have RFTs), and Santa delivered! So when I swapped back to summers no problem!

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what colour you do go for on the calipers!

I've had and used one of these for 10 years with no problems.

You guys need to stop over analysing everything in life and just enjoy yourselves

Likewise, mine is angled like that and never had an issue.

I don't use for tightening though, spider wrench first then torque wrench.

I know I need a life but

I didn't think it was wise using copper grease on bolt threads as it alters the torque value, ie you need to tighten the up more to get to the required torque :?

+1 . the amount of over analysis on this forum im suprised anyone leaves their front door.

I've got one of the bars Marlon has and i've probably lowered about 20-30 cars on my drive using the same bar to take 100+ wheels off said cars. :headbang:

+1

+2 i use one like the link & must have switched 40/50 sets of alloys with it
Marlon has been on the course eh mate :D its all about "feel"

Yeah, this one was bought following demos and practical tests using Mr Wilks identical brace when swapping over to my new wheels. I feel confident and ready to go :D

+3 , never had a problem with it , they also make an excellent thief deterrent when sleeping in European lay bys when left on the dash top , plus it's easy to explain to the police , " just changed the wheel mate and forgot to put it in the boot ! "

I had one of these years ago. I loved it but lost it moving house. I think i might order a new one. So much better than the Micky Mouse ones car manufactures put in the boot.

I've been using one of these for years and will be adding a 24inch breaker bar just for extra leverage on those over tightened wheel nuts .
