Location of the Clutch Delay Valve? (CDV)

I hope there was another stand where that jack is :o
How? What's the matter with that?

Only kidding :P. We had another axle stand under the front wishbone but just left the jack in place as a backup support (but not taking any of the weight). The belt, braces AND elastic waistband approach. I've never go under car jacked up car without axle stands, especially a scissor jack. My trolley jack's a bit knackered and we almost had an incident when jacking up that side of my car, hence reverting to my scissor jack (which I dislike). A new, better trolley jack is on my shopping list now...

What was funny was that allys car is so low we could not get the trolly jack under it and had to start it off with the scissor

Oh he's going to kill me if he sees this thread

thanks to nosa for his old CDV (received yesterday :D ) I have now successfully modified it

now just gotta find someone to fit it for me...

Good to hear :)

Honestly though, if nosa and me managed to fit it successfully then anyone else should be able to. Are you not tempted to give it a try yourself gannet?

BTW if anyone thinks about asking for mine, peddy's already got first dibs - I'm just giving it a week or so to make sure I don't need to reinstall mine before sending it onwards

do you not need two people to bleed etc though ?

having to do it all behind mrs gannet's back as she doesn't want me touching it :o

Unfortunatley yes you do need two people to bleed the clutch afterwards. I think you can buy a special bleed kit to do it by yourself but to be honest I don't know anything about them or how much they cost or how they work...

Is this your way of telling us all you have no mates

Not sure if I should be offended by that or not :poke:

Hoping I know you well enough that I know you wouldn't be offended

And LOOOOL at pvr's comment

I have a one man bleeding kit. You attach one part to the tyre to get the air pressure on it, then you fill the bottle with brake fluid. You replace the lid of the reservoir with this bleeding kit lid and pressurise the system.

Once under the car, you open the bleed valve until you are covered in brake fluid (i.e. no more bubbles come out).

The two man job is actually simpler as one opens the bleed valve, the other pushes the clutch down and holds it down until the other closes the bleed valve. Repeat 5 times or so depending on how much air is in there (if you used mole clamps, twice is probably enough).

the world can be a lonely place

truly, most of my mates either don't like getting their hands dirty or are a fair drive away.

You are digging deeper here ... you mean they all moved away from you? :poke:

I could give you a hand if non of your lady friends are available :P

If no one can help you Gannet save it and come up for the Skye trip, Ally and I will offer our now expert help, will take 15 minutes.

that would be very good of you and I may just take you up :D , especially as every garage I talk to around here hasn't a clue what I'm talking about :o Doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence. Even the BMW Specialist near work said they could not just take it out, and wants charge an hours work to replace it :o
