List of problems.. Back from dealership with more problems..

This is terrible .... I had a similar experience with a new Jaguar I bought in 2001 loads of problems , each time it went in it came back out with more issues. Having spent £26k I was not happy. Just loads of excuses from the dealer and a cup of free coffee !!!

In the end I contacted Jaguar at their HQ but still could not get satisfaction ... by this time car had done 7k miles they told me it was no longer a new ar and I was being too fussy. In the end I virtually camped out at the dealers until the dealer principal would see me . I said if matters were not put right I would park the car in front of showroom and tell all customers of my treatment . Eventually remedial work was carried out .. such as new auto box , new power rack, new instrument pack, new leather front seats , new central locking . An absolute nightmare and totally spoilt the new car experience we all hope to have.

You must stick at it until you get satisfaction . I've got blood pressure from just reading your posts.

Yepp time to try another dealer, some are good and some bad, unfortunately you have found a bad one :(

Sometimes a dealership can make or break ownership.

Hope its all sorted soon.

Tim.

so shoddy work on any car, sorry to hear all your troubles  Hope you can find a resolution soon...

Cheers guys. Not had a response to the email yet. If I don't get a response in the morning I will contact Mark as you say Nick.

I don't want to have to reject the car. I love it. Besides im not sure if i would have the grounds to reject would I? I just want it to be right and looked after when it goes in to the dealership. The fact they mention taking It to another dealership is ok but it's just the time and cost associated with it. Unnecessary trips and fuel as I still need travel about 25miles as the one in Doncaster is just as bad as the supplying dealership in Warrington.

:headbang:

It is so annoying when a main dealer is so uncaring about a car. Sadly they seem to get away with it :(

Its a fact of life that any new car could have problems.

Its a very hard thing to get to grips with, cos these buggers are meant to be a premium brand and cost ridiculous money, but there will always be a percentage that get through with issues (see my LEAK thread!).

Quality control? I dont know....

Whats totally out of order in the OPs case is that the dealer has caused damage to the vehicle. This is just not on.

The only saving grace is that he noticed it before taking the car away, as otherwise they would probably deny it.

What would be interesting to see is if the OP could talk to the grease monkey that did the damage (they'd deny it, or say it was someone else, but the dealer must know who worked on the car) and confront him face to face - i.e. make him take ownership of his poor work.

It's true new cars do have problems... However the mrs new focus is now 5 months old and been nowhere near the dealer since pickup

JDM - given what has happened, i would ask for a senior after care sales person to be assigned to your situation until resolution. Otherwise you will get passed from pillar to post until this is fully resolved.

BMW can be shocking at times.

Don't think you can reject the car at this point. They need to put things right.

It's true what people are saying about only hearing about the problems with the E89's. I've had no problems whatsoever with mine. Runs great, no squeaks or rattles. Only trouble I've had is from these damn parking sensors!

Hope it gets sorted John as painlessly and quickly as possible.

Not commented on your thread yet JDM but been following....utter shocking the faults with your Z4.

Although ive never brought a factory order new car i would never EVER expect the problems and issues you have had on a brand spanker. I can understand any car can slip though the net and have small issues to begin with but would also expect BMW being a premium brand to without hesitation fix.

You would haggle down a second hand car quite hard on some of the issues with the dashboard marks/leather, let alone any electrical faults you have found.

I had a friend who brought a brand new Subaru Impreza, hardly a brand known for its luxury status. A couple hundred mile after collecting, doing nothing crazy in it just braking as you would the turbo went bang, totally shagging alot of stuff. As the dealership was along way from his home address they picked the car up, paid for a first class return train ticket to the dealership, overnight stay in a very nice hotel while they discuss the options with the dealer manager. In the end he got another impreza alone with some extra free spec options. (Had a paid for hire car when he returned home between delivery of new 1)

Ok i know the above is an extreme case in that the car was totally fucked but i would be expecting BMW to be far far more accommodating to your needs.

Keep on to them along with making sure BMW UK know your problems. It might be an idea also to let BMW finance know your problems as they can have some leverage in these situations as well.

Wow jonnywells, you were saving that venom up weren't you

To be fair, any faults are annoying, trust me, I've had more than anyone to deal with, but let me play devils advocate a touch, JDM has issues with trim, a leak and rattle. Its not exploding turbos or knocking engines or wheels that fall off on the motorway. I'm sure with persistence he'll get what he wants, just like I did, and yes its annoying to have to do things like this when you think you're paying premium brand, again, trust me on this as I got no special 20i offer, I really have paid a lot and to have faults is very annoying, but its a few simple issues, and if they can put those right, along with perhaps a gesture for being a bit slack, I'm sure JDM will be much happier. Its probably not a good idea to mention exploding turbos anyhow... as the N20 is very new and no one wants to hex it!!

Lol maniac yer not posted on the forum for a couple weeks so thought might as well dump some forum anger

Like you say most are only small issues but i know after already visiting the dealer to address them and some are worse then before i wouldn't be a happy chappy....but like everyone else says, JDM WILL get the car to a satisfactory condition....then maybe steer well clear of that dealership in the future.

Like others said, new cars can have there issues, wether it be a 20k or 200k car. It's just how your dealer treats you and the car. Some dealers are just downright idiots, I have had my issues with previous BMW's and my local BMW dealer too. Sometimes I wonder if dealers understand that there are enthusiasts, people who see their cars as their pride and joy? They must be having too many customers who drive a BMW as a company car and don't care much about it? It seems to be very difficult to find a dealership that really knows how to take care of your car and deal with people too.

Anyway @JDM I'm sure your car will be perfect again soon, hope you'll find a good dealer near you.

You may want to address him as "Matt" to get the best result.... :D

John call Matt, you've got his details......

First advice for you JDM....dont let them wash it! If you think that scratch on the trim is bad, wait till they've been over the paintwork a few times with a grit riddled cloth.

So I have been in discussions with the dealership manager. He has apologised profusely and has asked that I take it to my local dealer to have the remaining issues resolved and has told me to give them his details so that he can arrange for payment to them etc for the damaged trims.

I have washed the car for the first time today since getting it back and noticed the following:

The windows still leak when washing the car :headbang:

I also noticed when cleaning the wheels a yellow type stain on the front offside alloy wheel. I am 150% sure that wasn't there before it went in as I cleaned the car at least once a week and paid particular attention to cleaning the wheels as I don't want a buid up of grime to pitt and discolour them over time.

For reference all I ever use on the car and wheels is zymol ph neutral car wash, no wheel cleaners whatsoever.

Any ideas what may have caused this? I'm pretty certain it's happened whilst being at the dealers for the week

Love the rubber gloves!

I think your car must've been built close to mine to have the same crap water seals.....
