List of problems.. Back from dealership with more problems..

And driven in various conditions creaks an rattles are unavoidable
I've learnt to live with them and not let them spoil what are
Fantastic cars turn the radio up or put the roof down

I agree a few minor rattles in certain conditions are to be expected especially on 19 inch wheels. I don't like the fact that someone is pulling my car apart either but I did have a creek from the roof just above my head only when the sun had been on the car for a while, drove me nuts! one 'shim kit' later and all is now quiet, but I have been dealing with my dealer for over 15 years and they look after me pretty well.

Its annoying having issues on a new car but your dealer will sort them.

Picked the car up on Saturday... Fuming is not the word..

See further email sent to dealership below :headbang:

Morning ****,

I came to collect the car on Saturday morning and arrived at 9.30am as agreed.

I reported to service department as you had requested and liaised with ****. He looked around for ten minutes as they couldn’t find the paperwork for the car and once they had found it realised that the car hadn’t been washed or valeted so I had to wait around for half an hour or so.

Once the paperwork had been found **** tried to inform me of what had been carried out on the car but neither he or myself could decipher the service engineers written report. I have asked for a copy of the report to be posted out to my home address.

Slightly annoyed and frustrated at the above issues I arrived to the car to check the work had been carried out to my satisfaction. Upon inspection I had noticed yet more damaged and scratched trim to the inside of the vehicle, together with dirty marks on both the drivers and passenger seat (which admittedly did clean off with leather wipes which I had in the glove box.) The vehicle was also washed in a fashion. The wheels were still dirty and dead flies splattered to the front bumper.

Needless to say when a vehicle is in your possession it should be treated with the upmost care. Be it a £10,000 used vehicle or a £70,000.00 new vehicle. My car is my pride and joy and for it to be treated so badly really does anger me. It should not be allowed for any dealership to carry out work on vehicles so carelessly.

You would think that if a vehicle is having trim replaced due to it being damaged by your staff in the first place then extra care would be taken not to damage any more trim whilst it is in your possession.

I was also informed by **** in the service department that the passenger seat base could not be addressed as it was on back order from BMW. Hence they have not ordered one and I am to go into my local dealership to have it replaced. Why was I not informed of this prior to me collecting the vehicle? I thought from our conversation on Thursday last week that the car was parked up and everything had been completed?

So, despite you having the vehicle for one full week, I now have to take the vehicle to my local dealership to have the seat base replaced and Paul suggested that I have them replace the trims which have been damaged and that you are to be invoiced for the works.

As you can probably tell from the content and tone of this email I am more than unhappy with the service I have received from the dealership.

I have purchased a brand new car from yourselves. Everything should be perfect from day one and I should be spending time enjoying the car, not trailing up and down the country to have someone attempt to put right issues only to cause further damage.

I have attached images of the damaged trim for your reference:

Image 1816 shows scratches and gouges from the aluminium trim above the headlight switch
Image 1817 shows scratches to the aluminium trim and plastic around the passenger door handle

Please respond to this email with your proposals on how these issues are remedied.

Holy crap. I feel your pain.

To be honest, one positive might be that they suggest you go to another dealer! But that doesn't excuse the additional damage and that all work hasn't been completed.

How about the other issues?

Unfortunately, this seems to be a fairly typical experience. My dealer always seems to think it is strange that I insist on an inspection of the car before they take it to agree its condition. I have done this ever since I had a wheel damaged and they instead it was like it when they took the car... :headbang:

They sound like a pack of tosspots.

Just take heart from the fact that when its sorted, which it will be, you'll have a great car to enjoy.

Reading stuff like this makes me even more confident to take anyone who is working on my car for an inspection before handing over. Ignorant people just don't care about other peoples property.

Good luck.

Wow JDM really sorry to hear this nightmare experience continues. Hopefully it doesnt tar your feelings for the E89 and as Sars points out you view it as a local dealer issue as not all dealerships are as incompetent as this one sounds.

Although i've got to say it was similar experiences that put me off Ford for life.

I cant imagine a local dealer will fix the trim damage  ..unless paid by the other dealer...I hope you get sorted, it looks like a screwdriver has been used to rip the trim out

At least my dealer damaged a trim piece, they ordered and fitted it before they gave me the car back

oooooo, thats bad..... really bad

i think at this point, i would refuse the car and tell them to keep it
