limp mode

Worse case would be that it's chewed it up, but you could go out and unscrew that now and check, just for peace of mind.

Me to silver

Thanks Rob like wise bud:thumbsup:

The valve seems in good shape. But there was a lot of grit in the intake manifold??? Like black fine sand I am 100% sure that shouldn't be there!!! Any ideas guys???

What sort of noises are we talking when you started it up mate? Feel free to email me the pic and i'll post it. It's email removed.

I will do it on my break tomorrow.

Noise wise sounds like its firing back into the intake. There is a fair amount of oil in there and it smells like an old lawn mower. My brother has just been round but its dark and he was in a rush so we will have a look tomorrow.

As someone posted v8 build sooner than I was thinking....... But I am sure all will be ok so hopefully not.....

If you do go that way, I'll be helping out weekends

I hope it's an easy fix though mate, it's impossible to help without seeing it really.

Yeah I know mate and thanks. I am sure the engine is fine just needs some tlc. So I am thinking full oil filter plugs DISA valve thingy upgrade air intake strip and clean. Vanos seal kit and hope that keeps it running.

Or do I just patch it up and save for something special?????

If you fund it I will start tomorrow. You can even have my 6 cylinder as something to aspire too :poke:

Oi, less of the 2.0 bashing! Not cool.

Hmmm....Pretty staunch unit the M52....

Back firing through the inlet is usually timing issues, but i dont think i have ever heard of an M52 jumping its chain...Maybe the vanos solonoid has jacked out ?

BUT.......Going off your previous description,i would guess this is a cam/crank sensor issue....
