Limp mode

Spitting feathers, local main dealer wants £1500 to rectify 'limp-mode' faults. It's a 2.0 litre on a '55 plate. It's done 84K so it'll cost 20% of the vehicle value to rectify. What's going on. Is there a latent manufacturing concern about these engines? "Noble" electrical contacts? Harness faults? It's a bit of a concern having to spend this sort of money on a relatively young car, which otherwise is pleasurable to drive. Help out there?

I would get the fault list / errors then ring around a few indies for a quote

bit obvious but have you tried a local BM indy ?
once the car has reached 5/6/7 yrs old then its hard to ignore the benefits of these knowledgeable chaps .
if in lancs i can recommend one

when you say limp mode do you mean transport mode or is the engine management light on. you need someone with DIS software to tell you the faults and or clear them.
