Proper sickener  after a 3 hour roundtrip to collect a set of 108,s ( cheers Mike was a pleasure meeting you ) i tried them on the Z & just wasn't set on fire with the look or stance as i had a picture in mind of how i want the car to sit & look
So much studying of the web i find set of staggered rims( the sellers very last set BMW fitment ) 8.5 front 9.5 rear with offset of 30 front & 33 rear & a concave wheel style i really liked :driving:
Really wanted Continental rubber for them so hunted around & a 2 hour roundtrip yesterday having the fronts rubbered up (235 45 18) .
Off out again today another hours drive for the rears (Conti 265 40 18 ) ,
Last wheel comes out of box & bam !!!! :o "this ones damaged mate" :( :( whaaaaaaaaaaaattt !!! :headbang:

sorry to hear that tale of woe, feel yr frustration, nothing worse, lets hope he sorts it out for you, cant imagine he knew ,just hadnt check them i guess, good luck

Consoled myself by slipping one side on so here's how they should have looked

30mm lowering springs should be the cherry on the top

Andy, why 45 & 40 profile? Looks a bit too big to me!? :?

I didn't want to criticise Mr Wilkes as he is the wheel Guru.
I too thought they looked a bit big.

Always felt the sport coupe i had was too hard a ride for no apparent reason other than stiff suspension & not enough rubber :o
So to avoid that again a little more rubber & Se spec should make a massive difference ( it did on a 330d i had that was se as opposed to 520d sport ) .
I'm not one for throwing it around the bends & am more looking for a long distance cruiser to get me to Normandy & drives out on Sundays
If the profiles work on the M then that is good enough for me , you have to assume it was to add some comfort to even stiffer suspension , a As a personal taste i much prefer more rubber around my alloys which at the same time also narrows the arch gap ,

This pic is standard 108 rear with standard 35 profile

Now that to me is not enough rubber

Wouldnt a 108 only be fitted to a sport suspension equipped car though..?

But the standard 17inch 103 (daisy0 for eg is et47 8j with 225 45 17 so has almost identical circumference & overall height as the 18inch 108 with 8.5 x 255 35 18 tyre so face of wheel & gap above tyre would be the same as above 108 pic

They were not standard on any model, and I believe on face lifts could only be spec'd on sports. Pr face lifts were an option again.

But due to the age of these cars without the spec sheet via the VIN you would struggle to guarantee what wheels came on any car, especailly if Mr. Wilks has been near it

The wheels and tyres you are fitting have a 5% difference in circumference to the standard 108 sizes so won't the speedometer be inaccurate?

Yep at 120Mph i shall have to remember i am actually doing 126  virtually the same discrepancy as someone running brand new tyres to someone on the bars

I'm sure you will notice the difference with the higher profile.

In ride comfort you mean ? I hope so as it was noticeable how crashy & hard + twitchy at speed the Zc was .
I had gone from a 645 to it which wouldn't have helped but also when compared to the older V6 TT i bought after it over the same roads & speeds which i ran with 235 45 Michelins x 4
I want a Z i can do 500 miles in 8 hours without any comfort or driving downsides . If it fails il swap the tyres & put my hand up
Ive done similar with our A6 & its perfect , a pal's S line A6 looked ace but was super crashy & hard so i bought the Se version & dropped the suspension to S line height so the looks are there but feels comfortable over all surfaces running 245 45 tyres as opposed to 235 40 :?

Unfortunately itl be another 2 weeks before i even get on the road to try it out , off on hols for 2 weeks & still need the 4th wheel

Speedos are typically optimistic so wheels with a greater rolling radius will probably make the speedo correct!
