Sounds like they simply didn't get your watch out on time before Xmas. I didn't get my delivery notification until the day before the delivery day. It's disappointing but I guess some will have missed pre Xmas delivery.

Treated myself to a Tag for Christmas. Quick question.
The big second hand only works with the stop watch, does it wear out the mechanism in the long run if I leave the stopwatch running so the seconds hand is used for seconds ?

It's automatic so there is no battery.

No it will be fine. They are made to run in all modes and it will be in the tolerances so do not worry

I know it's automatic but wondered if the mechanism wears out quicker if the stop watch is run for years ?
In theory, yes, because you're using parts that aren't normally used unless timing something.
I've never liked using the stopwatch as a seconds timer because all the subdials end up all over the place, and if you do want to time something you undo any accuracy you might have had as you have to stop and reset the timer. Plus it looks like the gimmick they always use in the jewellery stores where they set the stopwatch to make it look like a large seconds hand.
It's a fantastic watch (yep, I'm jealous...) which already has a perfectly good seconds sub dial. I like the look of the other indicators pointing to 12.
Having said that, it's your watch, wear/use it however pleases you   (and drop me a PM if you ever want to move it on.. )

A little controversial maybe :? How do people who are into their watches view the likes of the smart watches like Apple, Samsung etc . Do you see them as a watch in the true sense of the word as an aspirational timepiece? Or a bit of a novelty.

I do have respect for them-let's be honest, they are the future and not a fad.
However, personally I still prefer a "traditional" watch

I had a look at JL today as they have £50 off the Apple Watch, not to be sniffed at but they can't tell you what they have in stock and you have to stand in a que to pay for around 20 mins for them likely to tell you they don't have the one you want. Or you could stand for the same amount of time for someone to give me some 'advice and help' on choosing the item I always know too much about.

Really just fancy one for running etc but might just stick with a Garmin one

I might be wrong on this but I don't think it has built in GPS so still needs to be near the phone,
The Sony smart watch does have built in GPS an can be used for running apps without taking the phone as well

I don't believe it does but as my phone is strapped to my arm or leg for use with my Bluetooth heart rate earphones it doesn't bother me.

The Garmin watch I've been looking at also has a built in heart rate monitor. Seems a bit OTT but as I have a heart condition I like to keep an eye on it. To be fair I can feel and hear when it's not working as it should.

Well I've just taken the plunge on a new Garmin Forerunner 235. I would have liked an Apple Watch like the Apple brand whore that I am but as I'm going to be using it for activities only its a better buy and I believe I can still link it with my phone, check mails, texts etc and it will track me without my phone incase it dies (it tends to do that quite a lot, especially when it's cold)

I think it's a smarter choice for activity use an probably a better HR choice
