I did find an old thread but lots of the attachments not longer available so thought I'd start a new thread.

Any significant tattoo owners active around here these days? I'm about £5k and 45 hours in. Arms and legs fully covered but none on neck or face, which won't be changing.

So go on, let's see your quality tattoos ..

im 300 hours in.. full body suit, nothing on face or neck tho, haven't actually got many pics, will maybe dig out 1 or 2 if I can find owt

Now that's a good innings.

I'll start...

Some look good, most look god awful....but I'm not sure about them tbh, I think people get them to try and show individuality and their personality....it doesn't, seemingly almost everyone under 40 in the UK is covered in them. Look at a 50-year-old with them...they look truly awful when the youthful skin starts to fade.

Thanks.. I turned 50 a few months back :D

Its just like collecting anything in my opinion, nothing to do with individuality, I alwys knew from a very young age I would have some, i was fascinated as a kid seeing them on my Dads arms, I never expected I would get as far in as I did but something just connected with the process and I was hooked.

Ive always collected and been a bit obsessive about things I like, motorbikes, adidas trainers, watches, rare coins, art... this journey with tattoos has been no different tbh

Afraid I can’t get my head around the idea but a fella over the road from me who’s nearly 70 has allowed his daughter who is a very accomplished tattoo artist, free range on his blank canvass.

Can’t help thinking what sort of torment someone will have if they wake up one day and say “S**t, I really REALLY hate my tats...”

I know this stuff isn't for everyone by the way and I'm honestly not offended by anyone who doesn't like it, you can slate away to your hearts content :D
Anyway.. I found a few more pics

Not to my taste personally, but i can appreciate quality work. They look great!

Who does them for you? I'm having to find someone new now as the girl i went to moved back to Greece unfortunately. Was lucky enough to be rattles by Curly a few years back.

yes mate, i think its fair to say we have different taste in styles.. Ive always been drawn to big heavy colour work
most of it (I'd say around 85%) is done by Mark Bailey at Golden Dragon in Chester..Ive had individual pieces done by lots of other artists though:thumbsup:

TBF you've got some nice artwork there. I'm not totally against them, but you see so many silly ones done on the cheap than mean absolutely nothing. If I were to get one then I'd probably save as much money as I could and have a proper artist deliver a bespoke design.

I was at a dermatologist a while back and a guy was having his sleeve removed and it was £20k and a 6-month process, to end up with skin that looks like a burns victim. :?

Of course there are some funny tattoos - I was told of a Royal Navy seaman who had a F**K OFF tattoo along the outside edge of his right hand - those of you who know what the RN salute looks like, will also appreciate how the fella used to like saluting officers!

I don’t think he ever got any promotion.

I'll be fank, I really think they look truly awful :o I never understand why anyone would disfigure their body like that. I find them even more repugnant on women

I appreciate we are all all different but I just don't get them. Sorry.

Tim.

I’m not crticising here in any shape or form but as a non inked person i would like to know why you want to get inked ? I honestly can’t understand why and would honestly like to know the answer

Again I stress no criticism intended.

I really hoped the title of this thread was a typo, but never mind, here I am anyway.
I'm not really 'for' or 'against' tattoos but you'd want to be bloody sure before committing to it. Knowing my luck, I'd end with something like a 'no regerts' tattoo
