I guess depends on viewing angle and how far you're sitting away, I personally find them ugly on the wall :? Advantage is you don't have to clean behind it :)

I usually find them to high when on a wall, not natural looking up from a seated position :?
Rob

You can hang them lower mr b :?
Know what you mean though as a neighbour has his 46inch on wall over the fire mantle & that doesn't look right for me
Answer to mrs C , guess it depends on the position in room ? Corner then hanging isn't going to work with a 50inch
I like them sat on a nice unit but then again I don't mind them hung at viewing height

On the wall works, a fitter recommended putting the bottom of the screen no higher than eye-line height when seated, which is much lower than most people seem to do and actually makes viewing more comfortable (and like on a TV stand) rather than way up on the wall like a painting.

We moved 7 months ago after doing on the wall at the old place, wouldn't do it again gone for tv unit this time.

On a stand because you have options then - once its on the wall thats it fixed forever (or a pita to move)

I would opt for a stand too. More versatility.
However my brother has his TV on the wall, not too high and because of his room orientation and the fact he has reclining chairs and settee his is fine. Plus his kids can virtually lay down to do XBox stuff they like it too.

We bought a 65" yesterday (I say 'we' :| ) and idea is to put it on a bracket that comes out of one wall in a corner so it's in a corner but off the floor then put a shelf behind with the Virgin box and ps4 etc.
We've put it on the telly unit for now and now I don't know about the bracket as it looks ok. Arrrggghhh!!

I put our 60"on a stand in front of the chimney breast so it sits flush against the wall, no fire place just a sodding grate hole that takes the stand it sits on, the centre of the screen is at eye level when sitting down so perfect for viewing, so would recommend a bracket to keep it against the wall but low down to make it comfortable to watch.

65" wow - thats literally twice the size of mine! Must be like sitting in the cinema

Mines only 32" but then it saves all the neighbours selling their TVs and saving on their licence fee as mines too small to be seen

I recessed mine into the wall in my kitchen day room when I built the extension , it sits flush with the wall and all the wiring is hidden , I've done the same for a couple of friends after they looked at it .
You have to build a false wall but I think it looks a bit neater in kitchens or bedrooms .image.jpeg

I must say thats a much better idea especially if the cabling is hidden etc.

It's easy to do , build a frame out of 3 X 2 on the wall and run all the cables behind then plasterboard over and skim . It's an easy days work for a general builder , or diy it , take your time with the boarding and just fill the joints .

On the wall, every time.

My 4 are all on the wall, not a cable in sight, means a corner of the room isn't taken up by a cabinet

I've got our 63" on a stand, and arranged so eye level in our normal sitting position (about 20' from screen) is 2/3 the way up the screen - we've had this set nearly 6 years so I'm currently looking at larger screens to replace it but will keep the same arrangement

Never wanted ours on the wall but eventually got worn down and put it on the wall.
Must say I do now prefer it on the wall and wouldnt go back to it sitting on a cabinet.
I do have a tv cabinet underneath the tv and bought a cable tidy and all the cables run inside this to the back of the cabinet.

Nicely done mate

Doesn't really matter but I would insist on the set being at eye level when sitting to watch. This rules out wall mounted for me in my current lounge as it just doesn't work out due to the layout of the room. I cant understand some people mounting them high up on the chimney breast, seems an unnatural viewing angle.

I have got a wall mounted TV in the kitchen as it leaves all the worktops free.
