Mine leaked from the off on the passenger side but never bothered with it as it depended on how hard it rained but in a torrential downpour it would leak a fair bit running over the speaker grill and pooling on the window switch and floor matt . I think its luck more than anything on these cars. Unsure I would like to own one long term as there is just too many parts to the roof.

Thats a shame for the new owner of this car as it could possibly have been fixed while under the original warranty.

I traded in after 2 years for the M135i so it would still have a year's warranty remaining. If the leaky roof doesn't cheese the owner off then the whining rattly engine probably will. It went in twice for that for which nothing could be found wrong. Completely spoilt the ownership experience for me :(

Hi all!

Everytime I take my E89 to a hand Jet wash, water seems to be getting in where the A pillar meets the roof - its not much, but water dribbles in on both sides - enough to get your trousers wet!

Went into the dealer and was told this was to be expected... Does anyone else have experience with this?

Cheers!
In the last week we've had loads of effing rain , I really effing hate rain , that's why I hate living here.Anyway luckily none of it went in the boot or any other part of the zed ,even when I use the Mighty Karcher K4 Compact  to rinse ,snow foam ,rinse again :headbang: , so you seem to be on your here matey

No leaks up front during jet wash so far. Need to get some rubber lubricant by the sounds of it before leaks develop.

This one. Used mine for years, no leaks or rot on the rubber seals.

Brill thanks for that - have just ordered some.

Did check the seals last night - they all feel rather hard and brittle - hopefully this stuff will do the trick!

Definitely not normal. I've taken it through many car washes, hand car washes, etc and never any leaks. I once saw one of the guys use the s**t out of a jet washer on the all the seams of the car including on the roof (I guess he really wanted to get in all the nooks and crannies!) and expected a convertible that looks this good to not have leak problems — luckily he was right.

But of course the taillight was a different problem.

6 years old, 53k miles, no leaks.
I'm Religious about lubricating all rubber with silicon bumper spray.
At least once a month. And twice at Lent :)

Do you have any proof that doing that actually helps, or is it just bro-science?

I only get a slight bit of water that slowly runs down the inside door window when I jet wash mine. As someone said, my seals probably need a wipe down.
