Hello

Pouring beer in your car because you wont do burn outs! Shocking.
When I first read this it sound like a splendid way to spend a weekend, Im not so sure now?
I rather have concentrated sulphuric acid poured over my gentlemens area, than beer poured into my lovely zed!

Don't let us put you off - it really is a great weekend and 99% trouble free - I promise. Just avoid the area around the Houx Roundabout on Friday evening and you'll have no problems at all.

Hmmm.

I might do this, but i will kill anyone who disrespects the Zed. Always fancied it, safety in numbers ?

It all depends where you go, if you go for a 'max power' rude boy cruise expect trouble, if you go for the 24hr race and to appreciate cars at many of the mangaged events on offer you won't even see the idiots mentioned above - i haven't and dont plan to this year either

just had a look on yourtube regarding this mad friday you all refer to, looks fun apart from the 'burburry brigade stepping into the road getting people to rag their cars (to$$ers). not sure if this video link works but it looks like sixspeeds beast @ 1m 27sec into the video

True you can avoid the numpties last time i went i had a hotel around 40 mins walk from the circuit so i left my car there as i like to have a few beers over the weekend.

It was friday night in Arnage was great but the Jendarme put a stop to it as it was getting out of hand remember people would do a burn out and get a cheer not a load of beer thrown at them there was a bloke doing a great burnout in a Cobra and some w***er decided to spray water in his face at the same time :x

Should have got a coupe, at least I'll stay dry :poke: Oh Wait - wrong thread !!

Im sure there are some vids of Sixspeed laying some rubber down for the crowd on mad friday , cant access Youtube from work at the mo.
edit - oh wait, the links above

Lets start another thread nearer the time with confirmed ferry times, route, camping and where can meet up

As much as it's cool to see a burnout, grabbing the car and pushing it from side to side is mental. Seems like there'll be an incident soon and it'll all be banned.

Might have to perfect the burnout though, very cool.

lol @ Andy - there's 3 different vids of you doing burnouts... Good work.

oh come on, thats just a bit of light hearted fun.

i'm going this year, my first year.

i've got no problem with someone asking for a burnout, even if it is without LSD, whats a few MM's for a weekend of fun?

Its not the burn outs people have a prob with its the dickheads who when you refuse to do one start launching pints of beer and other things into you car and as said above rocking cars from side to side cars with mum and dad with the kids in on an evening out :x add to that setting light to things on campsites next to loads of tents and nice cars :headbang:

Personally i used to love Friday night in Arnage with all the burnouts as did the locals and miss it but sadly due a minority its been ruined :x

I am going this year, have been every year since 2002 - wouldn't miss it for anything. The buzz of anticipation whilst waiting at the ferry port in Dover is amazing!

One downside is that I have seen a decline in behaviour standards pretty much every year. One year I had to drive back from Le Mans to Rouen in a wet seat with a fizzing stereo after some kind chap chucked a champagne bucket of water through the open roof of my old 944 at a zebra crossing. Just watch out for people trying to get you to stop on crossings outside bars, they may have buckets of water...

I don't normally bother driving over the weekend now, get there Thursday afternoon, park up, crack open beers - leave car until leaving Sunday after the race.

Good advice to be honest never done a lot of driving over the weekend as i like a beer with my racing occasionally go out early Sat morn but after 10am its not worth it as roads are grid lock.

Managed to get a hotel booked for Sunday night so thats it i am going even if its on my own missed last year first time in 10 years not doing that again.

Will go over Fri or Sat morn if i cannot get a room for Sat night catch some sleep under a tree somewhere loads of lanes and fields near circuit.

The GT grid is looking good so far if they all get in BMW M3 works team, Ford GT, Lambo,Ferrari,Porsche,Spyker,Saleen ,Corvette,Jaguar.

Do you ever stop at Gace on Fri lunch well worth a visit some lovely cars

Well done on getting a hotel in Le Mans for the race weekend I've heard they get booked up years in advance. We generally stay in Rouen on Sunday night, the joy of having your own shower and toilet after camping is one of the highlights of the weekend.

If you can't get a hotel for Saturday and we get rain like a few years back, you are welcome to put your sleeping bag down in our gazebo - its a proper tent so will be drier than sleeping under a tree!

GT grid does look interesting. We have a Jaguar fan coming with us for the first time this year, very lucky in his choice of year.

I have had lunch in Gace, but never on a Friday. We camped next to the Jaguar Drivers Club last year, they went off to St Saturnin on Friday and raved about that - is it the same event? Whatever happens on the Friday this year I won't be driving - its my 45th Birthday so its champagne for breakfast!

Very true a hotel after a campsite is a joy especially when its very hot need the aircon to sleep thats one of the reasons i stopped camping rolling into bed around 4am then up again at 7am due to the heat in the tent.

2008 got a hotel near Arnage for all 3 nights 40 min walk to circuit via Arnage for a beer stop :D was so nice waking up to a shower and toilet followed by all you can eat buffet breakfast.

Stopped in Rouen on the way down in 2007 Thursday night nice old town turned into a bit of a session and one member had to stay another night due to very bad hangover came down on the train Sat morning we stayed in the Ibiz private underground carpark so nice and safe for the car.

Heard them talking about St Santurnin when in Gace there are normally hotels available over the weekend may stay for Friday night for a change think its about an hour past Le Mans.

I used to live in my Calibra over the Fri Sat night a few years back would park in the carpark opposite the main straight pop the seats flat it was perfect especially with the british burger van thats normally there huge full english mmmmm :D but may be a bit uncomfy in the Z :D

Hiya,

I'm going with a few of the local pistonheads members (should be a fun convoy with a F 355, F360 Spyder, and 2 x 996 GT3s), were are all camping with Porsche Club GB on the inside of Porsche Curves. Crossing ~ 7am on the Thursday and crossing back late afternoon on the Monday. :)

Never been but would love to in the Zed this year.

Have no idea on the order of events and what tickets etc are needed. Anyone mind doing a bit of hand-holding and telling me what I need to book up if it's not too late?

Camping at Chateau Chanteloup sounds ideal and looks like there are spaces left. Would be great to meet and possibly drive down with a couple of you lot.

Cheers,
Dave

What a shame the Corvettes won't be racing this year. The noise from their beautiful engines made me well up inside, magnificent! Reminds me of the noise an old English Electric Lightning made when it was on full after burner vertical climb. You could feel the vibration in your chest and belly.

Last year was my first ever visit to a race and I loved it. I won't be there this year, but will go again given the chance.

We stayed with a friend at his house about an hour away, then ate, watched race, ate and drank, watched race, drank, ate and drank, watched race, ate, watched race, ate and drank, watched race, drank, ate and drank, watched race, ate, watched race, ate and drank, watched race, drank, ate and drank, watched race, ate, watched race, ate and drank, watched race, drank, ate and drank, watched race.....dear sweet cheeses & hairy mary, , what a time we had!

We just rocked up and got tickets on the day. You can go in and out as many times as you like. Lots of grease shacks and beer places, but we went out to eat a few times locally. At night there is a place you can go where you watch them brake from a zillion miles an hour to about 60 within a couple of yards, you can see the discs glow. Can't think which part of course it is called.

Hi Dave

Sorry, I missed your post - too busy driving my new car and not checking forum!

It would be a pleasure to pass on some tips about planning a trip. Not too late to get something organised, just let me know if you have specific questions or would fancy a chat.

We are driving down on Thursday morning - its a silly o'clock ferry from Dover, so we spending the night in the hotel next to the ferry terminal. Cars in our group so far are Jaguar XJ8, Nissan X-trail and still haven't decided between MX5 or Z4...you would be welcome to drive down with us.

Regards
Mark
