Le Mans 2010

I'll be there, im camping at chateau chanteloup (http://www.chateau-de-chanteloup.com) which is by far the best of the 3 sites I've tried.
My mate has booked it all, but we have parking passes at the right places as well this year

ah cool your camp site looks nice..

im staying at one about 10 mins drive away from the track, cant remember the name! went last year and had such a good time, we all went as "Team Shocker" our convoy consisted of a white Focus ST, White TVR Cerbera, Black 911 and 2 red dodge vipers!!

i cant wait for this year!

You should try the classic car weekend. Lots of old and weird excotic stuff to look at. Evan had a lap round the track in an old Triumph Herald.
Great fun.

I'll be there with White Rabbit Racing (www.whiterabbitracing.co.uk) . Last year we convoyed with multiple M3s, Nobles, porkers, Fezzers and everything inbetween. About 30 cars all in.

We tend to get the Dover to Dunkerque crossing with Norfolk Lines for about £48 per car return, heading out early Thursday morning. It's a little further to drive - but that just adds to the fun :driving:

I missed last year, but did the 3 yrs before that. And I must admit 2008 was getting quite silly within the internal camp sites / roads.

Stories on PH of cars having beer cans thrown at, covertibles having stuff poured in etc. etc. because they wouldn't burn out / do dangerous stuff to please crowd etc. etc.
Im just glad I left a few mm of pilot sports down for them, and I had an LSD in the back to assist !!

Gonna try and get a uber-barge off my Sytner mate rather than take the Z this year, shame I know but its idiots (mostly brits sadly) ruining it.

PS make sure you get your car vinyled up !!

im no taking my Z im going with my mate in his 330 cab it will be vinyled up,

last year there was some twats like that stopping the cars and trying to ge them to burn out prats if u asl me, dont get me wrong i like a bit of fun but i dont agree with damaging peoples cars if they dont wanna bur some runbber!!!

hopefully this year will be good fun and good weather.

Gonna try and get down this year missed last year first time in 10 years  had enough of the campsites cannot get any kip but cannot find a hotel near the circuit yet hope that they become available a few weeks before as they did last year may even drive down Sat morn and crash anywhere for a few hours Sat night then stay in a hotel Sunday night.

The Classic was good in 2008 supposed to be going down for that but sadly not in the Z

Know what you mean about the dickheads spoiling a great weekend thats why i will not use the campsites last time we stayed in a small hotel around 45 mins walk to the circuit perfect use to stop in Arnage on route for a couple of beers then stroll up to the circuit.

Totally agree with the comments about the idiots - particularly near the Houx roundabout. It used to be great fun - and worth a cruise - but the propensity of the beered up (Brits I'm ashamed to say) to throw beer bottles and step out in front of you has made "Mad Friday" less and less fun each year.

I'm still taking the Zed - am toying with the idea of a full white "Martini" body wrap this year 8) - because the journey down and the first tunnel will make it all worth while :driving:

Yes the tunnels !

Did 2 Yrs inner circuit camping but the last trip was far the best, totally quiet a night when you actually want some kip (you can stay trackside if you dont eh ? )

Where are the tunnels? I'm going down for the first time and don't wanna miss the sound of my v6!
Not taking the Z4 then?

All these stories of idiots like the stories mentioned on PH totally puts me off the actual Le Mans. I guess the classic Le Mans would be just as good if not better, and not attract as many twunts either. Shame I've got 450miles+ of UK roads before even reaching a ferry terminal, trips like this aren't quite as easy :(

i wouldnt let the silly english planks put you off going, its an amazing weekend and well worth the trip, you can avoid the stupid people with ease.

Totally agree. It's just frustrating that these few - and they are just a few - put a bit of dampner on things. They're fairly easy to avoid as mentioned above.

The first time I went, I was unsure why I was taking 5 days off to watch a 24 hour race. It all makes sense now. Porsche curves at 3 am just has to be seen to be believed. And the noise :) from the eerie whistle of the "diesels" (not diesel as we know it - costs 14 Euros a litre ) to the rort of the Astons and the rumble of the V8s.

Watch out for people withe "Le Mans tourettes" though. You can recognise them, as they will have bought an ear radio and will be listening to the commentary and will suddenly come out with random statements on the race that they have just heard

OMG the Corvettes, no video camera can do them justice... Its like Thor is under the bonnet shouting at everybody else as it goes past.

Aston V12's sound great, My Fav so far was a privateer lambo murcialago the first year I was there, 6 foot flames down the mulsanne 8)

arnage corner at 4am watching the come alone that straight and breaking so hard that all you can see is the glow of the break disk is just crazy..

i personally cant wait to get there again the hole 5 days are just brilliant and the locals are just crazy. lol

Remember the Panoz Roadsters a few years back going into Tertre Rouge at night WOW :D :D and to make it even better it was a warm night and had a cold beer in my hand

Hello

Pouring beer in your car because you wont do burn outs! Shocking.
When I first read this it sound like a splendid way to spend a weekend, Im not so sure now?
I rather have concentrated sulphuric acid poured over my gentlemens area, than beer poured into my lovely zed!
