I'd line the two trims up with the top edge of the diffuser, staggered as it curves around. Maybe even protruding a little (1cm tops)
Mmmmm... potential to look lots better when fully finished

Can you get the diffuser for pre facelift models? To fit it I presume a small section of the bottom rear skirt needs to be cut away?!?!? £295 plus vat seems pretty good given it is real carbon...

The OEM diffuser for the prefacelift looks like a ironing board fixed to the underside and it's normally painted to match the body colour as opposed to CF. Not a look I wanted.
The facelift can be made to fit if you are prepared to work at it.
There is no crease line to align with so you need to template it up carefully.
The overall rear shape is identical aside the extreme lower corner edge corners of the lip that have a different profile, so you need to infill the gap in the corners. I used a spare piece of CF that I had from chopping up to fit the quad system.
imho if you are a competent DIY'er do it, ask a bodyshop or leave it.

OK - much clearer. It might be easily doable, but you'd have to take the bumper cover off loosen the bolts and try move it the mm or 2 then retighten. If not then elongate the holes slightly to give movement. The issue may be that the lower profile on the corners may limit movement, so a compromise of a bit of fettling stretching and flexing may align it to hide problem.

Thanks. It is only visible if you look at it very closely. The difference may be just 1mm. But if I look at the gaps from standing in the middle, I can't really see any difference at all. I need to have a closer look tomorrow.

I have seen pics of the colourcoded ironing board version, not as 'hot' as the cf one pictured. Had a look at the OEM accessories on the BMW website and it says 02-09 models for the cf diffuser? On the bottom of my rear skirt there is a protruding edge/lip, surely that needs to be removed as the diffuser shown curves/rolls under the car where the edge is? I think it isn't an easy job as it would have to fit well, but it does cover pre and post facelift models under the year banding they give...
