Lakes for the day

We decided to make the most of the sun, and set off for the Lakes mid-morning.
Heading north out of Preston on the M6 roof down to junction 40, then west on the A66 towards Keswick.

Outward journey:

Parked up here for sandwiches and tea & coffee from our new flasks.

After a stop in Keswick and a walk along the edge of Derwent water:

Then headed off to the Langdale Chase in Windermere via the Kirkstone Pass:

Then off to Bowness for a fish & chips takeaway, then back to Preston picking up the M6 south at junction 36.

We haven’t driven the Zed for quite some time, and so getting out in it yesterday for the first time in many weeks was a pure delight - roof down all the way. The pleasure I get from driving this car never diminishes :driving:

A wonderful day.

Fantastic photos especially the last is my favorite, it's hard to find a nice sunny day for such occasions :driving:

Stop it now Marlon!!! Great pic's BTW.

Still waiting for Mar 1st to finally get mine out since I bought waaaayyyyy back in Oct.

Great pics and a beautiful destination that we'll be heading to once the weather picks up.

Some lovely photos Marlon, I am very envious as I love the Lake District. Don't know how you managed it, but you certainly had the best of the weather as well

Great pics Colin, thanks for sharing.

A trip up to the lakes is on the agenda for me this spring.

Thanks for sharing - I'm very envious! Loved the pics, especially the one of Ullswater and the last one. :)

Thanks fellas, we are lucky to have the Lakes on our doorstep.
To pick up a couple of comments: it's definitely worth visiting on a weekday outside of school holidays if you can - the roads were clear and walks were quiet.
As for the glorious weather; we were keeping an eye on the forecast several days earlier and booked leave the day before. The Met office can be hit and miss with their forecasts, but if they give clear skies with a less than 5% chance of rain for 48 hours then its usually a safe bet to book the following day off
We will be using the Zed only occasionally, so when we do its important to have good top-down driving weather. Glad you liked the pics :driving: :)

Cracking Day out Colin. I'm not at all jealous....not one bit ! :P
You've got some lovely roads up there, I can see the attraction of having a Zed in your neck of the woods. :D
