» Lake District Meet/Drive - SUNDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER

If your meeting somewhere on sunday afternoon I'm happy to drive up and say hello. Would need to be 1pm onwards.

Sorry, tbf the meet is quite late anyway we would never get the route finished in time for people to get home otherwise.

Done Adam

Looking like there'll be 15+ zeds there (plus Guiseley's Porsche) so should be good, the more the merrier so any late additions more then welcome!

Popey, could always meet us at the Kings Head Thirlmere for lunch. probably be about that time, then do the second half of the meet with us 8)

Will do a printout of these for everyone who's going to keep with them, but I thought I'd post it here too for those who may wish to familiarise themselves with the route/plan for the day.

From prior experience you need to avoid cycle races like the plague. God knows why they are allowed to race in public roads as they'll cut you up, run lights, overtake each other without looking. They should have to pay for the roads to be closed if they want to time / award prizes for finishers :(

They're not all idiots, but some seem to get rather over excited and take silly risks to save a second or two.

This could be good depending on time. I'm driving up from blackpool.

Shouldn't take you long Popey, after all you do drive an ///M :)

Should be ok with the cycle event, looking at it they're starting very early so by the time we get to Keswick (after our stop for lunch at Thirlmere) it'll be late enough that the roads should be cleared. Might be a few stragglers but we'll just have to take it easy either side of Keswick for a few miles, we'll be keeping it nice and safe and sensible through built up areas like Keswick anyways.

I've emailed the organisers of that anyway just to find out what the craic is and compare routes. Cheers for the heads up 8)

Spoken to the organisers of the cycle race today and me and tom are looking at a different route now, possibly incorporating Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass but sadly missing out Honister etc to avoid the cyclists.

Hope everyone is ok with this.

It is eminently sensible to avoid the cyclists by re-routing if possible.
Please hurry up though - it will take me at least another 3 days to reprogram my satnav!!
