Tom is currently out round the lakes hooning and planning our route for next week. We've had a chat and have some quality ideas so it should be a really good drive!

Hopefully getting all this bad weather out the way this week for nice top down sun next!

To add to your list, I recently stayed in The Agricultural Hotel. Not too bad, good beers, good location in Penrith, and pretty good grub!

Just finished the route. 110 miles of absolute driving pleasure.

Going to be a fantastic day, if you haven't already get your name down

Can you PM (or post) some route details - it's a long way to the startline for us, and would be great to see some new roads with the locals :)

Some of the regulars will know a bit of the route. Its the best circular route from Penrith.

Roughly 110miles should take around 4-5hrs with stops and dinner.

To break it down we head from Penrith south toward Lowther past Lowther Castle, onward through Askham toward Tirrel then onto the B5230 to Poole Bridge, onto the A592 around the west side of Ullswater. Stopping at Glenridding for a photo oportunity and catch up. From there carrying on that road over up and over Kirkston Pass, with a possible photo op up there depending on how many cars turn up, turing onto the A591 to Ambleside following this scenic road past Thirlmere all the way to Keswick. Folowing this road through the town centre and turing left onto the B5289 following the east side of Derwentwater through the Borrodale valley up and over Honister pass where we will stop for another catch up and photo oportunity through Gatesgarth, buttermere following the east side of Crummock water which is a beautiful drive. Continuing to Low Lorton tuning right on the B5292 to Winlatter Pass stopping here. Then continueing to Braithwaite back to keswick onto the A66 where we will turn right on the Troutbeck turn off A5091 which is a great drive back toward Ullswater back on the A592 back to Penrith.

Then if we get time and people are up for it we will head up on the Hartside run.
