こんにちは & Hello! I'm still alive!

Hey everyone! How is everybody?

Okinawa Japan is very nice! Ton's of great places to eat. I'd like to say I've done a lot of travelling but I have not. Now before you complain about that; I have a very good reason for not traveling! There is an Aebous Jr on the way!!!!!!! Yep you read correctly, I'm going to be a daddy! Mrs. Aebous is doing well but very tired (first trimester) and we won't know if the baby is a boy or girl until late December. So I guess I will at some point be searching for compatible car seats that will fit in the Z4.

Some of you may be wondering what am I driving these days....I found this gem at a dealer tucked away where no one ever goes. It came with a little damage that I am currently sourcing to get fixed. The steering is way more responsive than I'm used to. The car is hella quick.

All that said I have seen quite a few Z4's on Okinawa, so if any of ya'll are on here (cue puppy dog face) can I get a ride? I even saw one for sale though my wife thinks she saw it listed for 10,000 USD. Oh well, the island is so small I think the highest speed limit is 80 KPH. Let me tell you, when you get used to doing 40-50KPH just getting a vehicle up to 100 KPH (60 MPH) feels pretty dang fast. I don't think there are tracks on the island, at least not so far as my coworkers know. I ask what is the point of getting a 400+ horsepower Skyline/GTR/Subaru WRX, etc if you can't enjoy it.

How is my pride and joy you ask? Well if some of you recall correctly the car was put into storage and from looking at the report they do take pretty good care of it. If anything needs fixing they have to email/call me prior to fixing it. For those that are interested see below.

Hey Aebous.

Another member in Japan ... (I am flabbergasted)!

I'm up in Miyagi, which is quite a distance from where you're at, but that doesn't detract from the surprise that there are actually more than one Z4-forum members in Japan.

How easy is it to get fuel for the car?
I mean, do petrol stations over there sell batteries? :P

Aebous! Congratulations man and welcome back to the forum! New ride looks great. More pictures please; before you have to sell up and get a family Cube

power naps are the life blood of any parent!!! even more so when your a lone parent!! lmao!!!

SK93, I am always sure to carry a battery with me! Great catch btw, gold star to you! It's a Tamiya TT-02 Chassis (it was a Ready to Run kit). Half the people I work with RC and I've been wanting to jump into it so I bought one. As you see from the pics I'm a novice driver and did quite a bit of damage to the body. Oh well. Half the people I work with Scuba and paintball too. Looks like I'm getting back into paintball and will learn how to Scuba.

What I'm actually driving for now is 2002 Mazda Demio (pic below). I almost didn't get it but I got to thinking of the visibility/safety side of things (amazing what a baby on the way does to your mind) and so I went with it. It handles surprisingly well for what it is and has a adequate amount of pickup. I do still want to satisfy my need for speed and I am thinking of a Subaru Legacy B4 or Mazda Atenza (the Atenza isn't that powerful I think). Of course with my family going bigger I am thinking of regular passenger cars (or a newer Demio). Besides the highest speed on the island is 80 KPH. 80!!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: that's not even 60 MPH. While there are twisty's I just don't know that it will be worth it to get anything sporty.

For those that are wondering I'm back to turning wrenches again, although I am the highest ranking in my shop so I have a feeling I'll do more paperwork than wrench turning. I am working on the flightline so I'm no longer a nonner and I'm getting to actively fix the F-15. It was kind of surreal eating my lunch on the spot with an F-15 running on both sides of me getting ready for takeoff. No food under a jet though, that's a no no. I really can't wait till I get engine run qualified and can run the jet at full afterburner.

The pics!

That's awesome! I've seen a few Z4's around here all owned by locals, but I didn't know if any were on the forum.

*edit*
I did also earlier today do a quick search for Z4M's in the US....just in case

:) nice pic  - hope alls well in Okinawa, you guys have been pretty badly hit by the recent typhoons!
