Evening all,
My central locking stopped working on the key earlier today. I also couldn't operate -
- the passenger door (at all, stuck shut)
- interior lock release button dead
- fuel cap release
The only things that worked were the drivers door using the key in the lock. The boot release did work remotely.
I have read a lot about the GM5 module and figured this would be down to this - usual relays issue. The issue was that I was out and about and couldn't open the passenger door - not fun for my passenger. I pulled the CL fuses just to check and did a battery reset for 10 minutes but nothing doing.
Here's where the fun starts..
I noticed that the airbag light was on. I figured there wasn't much I could do so decided to drive home. I lost all instrument cluster 'tell tales' apart from the warning ones - i.e. no high beam lamp, indicator noise. I also lost wipers, roof, MFSW controls, CD changer, AC and lots of other things failed to work.
I got home and hooked up DIS. I ran a diagnostic and came up with the following faults under the instrument cluster module tab:
ECU: Kombi 85
Jobstatus: OKAY
Variant: Kombi85
---------------------------------------------
RESULT: 3 errors in memory !
---------------------------------------------
135 K bus
error frequency : 45
Short circuit to ground
error present
---------------------------------------------
198 light module-EEPROM error
Error frequency : 45
Open circuit
Error present
----------------------------------------------
32 Aibag
Error frequency : 40
Error present
K-Bus telegram70h failed (Mask 10)
---------------------------------------------
I tried to diagnose the airbag modules/satellites but DIS couldn't find/complete the test due to K bus errors. I'm assuming the K bus was simply down.
I have spent the last two hours reading forums and trying to get ideas but nothing stands out. Lots of open ended threads with no resolutions.
Any ideas warmly welcomed.
Thanks,
Behr.
