So I had long schlep today and was running low, stopped at a BP and put some 95ron in as an experiment to see if I could tell the difference from optimax... needless to say I could! Within a couple of miles it was stuttering like crazy (misfiring) whenever I put the engine under load and really struggling to pick up speed inn high gears. I thought these could run on 95 with no issues? Anyone else experienced this?
cheers

Only that when I put some in today as no super for miles the EML was triggered. Luckily easily reset by phone and BT adapter.

These cars definatley favour keeping the fuel the same each tank.

Similar issue with Taz's Mroady after fuel switch ? Were you sticking to "85" where possible

odd.. i run mine on 95 most of the time... any fuel station and the odd half tank of 99 now and again... never feels any different to me

Run my Si on 95 , only car ive ever used 98 is the M roady & even then i threw in the odd 95 where i had to , never felt any difference or had any EMl issues

I normally use 95 Ron never had any issues until I filled up with asda cheap in Aberdeen , needless to say never ever used Asda for fuel again .

Always used 98 in 8) my 3.0,and my M...the one time I put 95 in my M,shortly after getting it,an no2 sensor went faulty, and drove hellish, stuck to supper ever since.

How low did you run on fuel, that is most likely the cause. Cars dont like to run very low as crap etc can get stirred up and find its way through to the injectors. A really good blast might well clear anything. However I have heard other reports on this forum of cars that dont like supermarket or 95 octane fuel.

I use sainsbury fuel no problem but it's their 98 stuff. Also regularly run it low because the weight saving improves performance.

I run on 95 too, no issues. Surely the ECU should be able to adapt the ignition advance to the octane rating?

Have only had to use 95 Ron twice in the Zed and only put £10 worth in on those occasions, to get me to another garage. Never caused any problems.

Never went above 85

Except for the T5 overtake, looked in my mirror and he was right behind me for the next mile or two round the bends at Taz speed :o

Only ever use 98/99 Ron, so guess mine hates the cheap stuff

My 3.0si runs on 95 all the time. Pop in the occasional tank of 98 out of curiosity, but can't really tell any difference, runs like a dream either way.

I usually run mine on 99 but the times that it has had 95 I had nothing like those issues, has yours had a remap?

You shouldnt be getting that amount of disruption :(

I alternate don't know why really as don't notice the difference but mine is due a tank of the good stuff this time

Nope, no remap that I'm aware of...

It was showing about 30 miles left in the tank when I filled up so could have stirred some crap up I suppose but it does get down that low pretty regular and never done it before...
