Some cameras need drivers installed first before they are recognised.
You've bought a fantastic camera, Nikons are brilliant cameras, love mine (and have had Pentax and Canons before I went digital with the DX40), pictures are fantastic (weakest point being the fleshy part that presses the shutter  )Beedub said:omg what on earth have i brought....

a340driver said:VR is vibration reduction. It will try and counteract any shaking of your hands. What that means in a practical sense is that you, or the camera can select a slower shutter speed without getting a blurred photo and still getting the correct exposure.
pvr said:jimbo1958, congrats with that and you are sure lucky with a fantastic bit of weather coming up as well![]()
Beedub said:The guide mode isn't what I thought it was..... It only allows you to scroll through your photos????

Are you sure about the Guide mode?
Have a look on Youtube and there is a video showing you the guide mode.
The VR button on the lens is the vibration reduction/image stabiliser. Presume us noobs will be wanting that left on.

Tapatalking on my iPad.......
Stuart Truman said:One thing on VR mode (or Image Stabilisation on a Canon) is DON'T use it if the camera is on a tripod, it will actually introduce noise into your pictures (noise = grainy looking)
Enjoy your camera, plenty of good advice on this thread, and when you have time to read up a little more, check out this site... http://digital-photography-school.com/
