hi DGM, yeah good choice to not be involved with some of the narrow mindedness thats is evidently present, yeah one of the police men was a body builder type and i immediatly expected him to be an ass, he was lovely, very calming, very understanding, the other guy was a slim guy who blatantly didnt give a s**t, infact my mom was alarmed when on entering the house he said in a VERY strange way " id love to do what you do for a job"....... me and my mom kinda looked at each other and immediatly KNEW what he meant, immediately im pretty certain he saw me, saw the car i was removing form the garage to move to another house and he'd already decided...... i knew theyve believed the break in as they could see the clear aftermath, but i think they thought A) these guys were coming here for something B) im some sort of drug baron, i genuinely believe if i wasnt a young black male id have been treated differently....
needless to say they took photo's, were their for a long time to be fair and came very quickly BUT every single call ive had to make EVEN to et my crime number, i had to call CID to find out any information, and all ive had in terms of contact is a victim support letter!!! lol... luckily im a hardy person and just want to move on from it really, the most valuable thing is lost was my pictures of my son that ive made up over the year, luckily my virginmedia backup had everything bar some videos id made of him.... i just want to move on from it really now, but i genuinely think that one policeman attitude is echo'd here on this forum from certain people. I was so MAD by some of the comments i decided to open up my home to ranksi today as he lives in the same regiion and is very close, im SICK of it really and was hoping to put it to bed really, but in the end i cant be arsed to prove myself anyway, im a young guy with a fanatastic life and im VERY lucky, its NOT been all my doing my mom built up a national company and has worked hard, ive reaped the benefits of a great person and been able to tag onto her and learn, ive never said different or i wont pretend its been all my hard work, but what i do, is work hard, live honestly and try to conduct myself in a certain way.... i am NOT a thug, i am NOT a Drug baron, im a normal guy thats bringing up my son alone and works 6 days a week.
still to this day not one police office has CALLED me, edit ; apart from the guy who does the finger printing.... he was nice and we arranged to meet at the next curborough members meet as hes a member, my renewal was on the side and he mentioned it to me.
for me, the cut and dry of it was everything is now replaced for like for like items, (ive added my own money to upgrade certain items) , i got my super precious photo's back which was all i cared about really, i had minor minor injuries mostly from MY lashing out at these guys, and my son was safe, i could have been properly battered or killed or they could have tourtured my son or something.... they didnt and I will learn a very tough lesson, needless to say... i wish i could have put up more of a fight but simply couldnt.. and i can assure you im no walkover, ive been fighting 1/2 my life in a trained controlled environment but that night, i didnt stand a chance, nor could i risk it with my baby boy upstairs ALONE. my house has some serious new security measures in place, and thats its, im gutted by the police response but complaints and stuff is something i just cant be bothered with..... they all think the same so f**k it.
Time to just MOVE on really and get the hell over it, which im doing very quickly.... my sleep is alittle rough but that will get better in time. Now hunter with his son in a coma has REAL problems, i lost a few items and will get them back, were all safe, so i just need to change afew things round here... one of them is no more nice vehicles on the drive, ill buy a 1500 quid nail and collect a work car from the work compound and always return it...

Agree with the posts above, if you think you were badly treated by the police that turned up after your armed robbery, then why dont you complain? surely in not doing so they will only continue?

Absolutely i have a HUGE attitude about the way things have been handled... and as for me, i LOVe my culture and where my roots are i couldnt be more proud

I have no definite tips on setting your camera up, as every situation you wish to use it in may differ. I would advise reading up on the basics of exposure if you wish to get better.

Shutter speed
General tips I can offer:
Don't shoot with a shutter speed slower than the focal length you're shooting at, e.g; under 1/50th second at 50mm (Just a general rule so don't get too hung up on it, but will help you when working at longer telephoto lengths where hand holding becomes harder)
Learn the meanings of 'Lead in lines', 'Rule of thirds', 'frame within a frame' and 'negative space' for better compositions. They're not the only rules, but they're a good start. And remember, rules are also there to be broken from time to time.
Anything more specific feel free to ask, I use Nikon also.
