I’m in a very fortunate situation where I have both an MR and MC, yesterday I used the MC and drove 120 odd miles round trip to a Classic Car Event in Tadcaster, now as much as I love this car it’s got me thnking, there’s no way on this earth that for high days and holidays that the MC is worth 30% more than my MR, I know the market says differently atm but both cars being equal, MR has 47K MC 53K, there isn’t £7K difference to me,I think it’s a gorgeous looking car for sure, I’ve set my stall out to use the MC for the next couple of years and store the MR so maybe it’ll grow on me just my opinion ofcourse :D :driving:

My Mrs once referred to them men’s handbags - some are just become perceived as more valuable & beautiful than others - beauty being in the eye of the beholder.

... if I had the garage space & a death wish, think I’d be in the same position as you.

I think the Z3MC has a lot to do with it. Rare and raw car. Plus although there are pretty equal numbers of MCs and MRs. There are far more E85 than E86s. So the shape is less common.

But as High days and fun days car. MR every time for this Zed head. :D :driving:

The only reason the coupe is worth more is because it looks better. I have a roadster and roof up, the coupe shape wins by far

Roof down, obviously the driving experience is most likely better in the roadster.

I'd like to own a coupe, because they look gorgeous, but I think I would miss the drop top aspect on sunny days.

From the 2 photos of your car's , the coupe clearly has the better looks 8)

here is one for you then.. which is better.. a z4 coupe or a 3 series coupe - they cant be that different can they ?

Sod how they look with the tops up, that's not what a roadster is about, the hood is just there to keep the rain off if absolutely necessary...

When you choose a 2-seater car, of any ilk, they tend to come with a lot of compromises and I, for one, would find it difficult to live with many of them if it wasn't for the joy of being able to get the top down...

I think you’re right there, and I think that’s what I missed yesterday, as I said for high days and holidays the top down experience wins :driving:

You can't leave the top down when parked up or some thieving sod will nick your very expensive top down side covers and/or wind deflector

Also, you have to constantly put up with the hairdresser comments, usually from middle aged blokes driving clapped out mondeos or family wagons

For me its all about top down driving. Even if prices were the other way around and the coupe was much cheaper than the roadster I'd still plum for the hairdressing variety! :D

Similar hike in price from the 3.0si roadster to the 3.0si coupe. Never understood why. I've just put it down to the rarity of the coupe and the fact they are all facelift 3ltrs or Ms.

Coupe is just the better looking car and potentially more focussed due to increased chassis stiffness, steering geometry (I own an M roadster) however depending on your position you may want the best/potentially the least depreciation M coupe or like me due to having other cars you may just want a roadster therefore the coupe never even entered the equation.

Would be interesting to hear why you chose to have both? Did you consider anything else?

Hiya, no I didn’t consider anything else, the long term view is that it will be an investment, hopefully/ maybe/ may not :D and at the same time it’s an asset that can be used

Chatting with a young chap out walking with us yesterday. Nice Z3 raodster parked up next to a defender outbside a very nice farm house. My comment, nice Z3. His comment, hair dressers car, Love the 110 and he's not even passed his test yet.

I think the coupe looks so much nicer than the roadster.Better as an appreciating asset future classic .Stiffer chassis. The same can be said as the 3.0lsi over the M coupe having owned both the M is not twice the car as the 3.0si But having had the luxury of being able to choose from either my money went on the M.
