Just got my 'new' 2.5i MSport

Send me your address, i will get interflora to send you some flowers round. You say your not sensitive, but then comment on the fact that i used a 'poke smilie' and not gave an apology ?....making yourself sound sensitive. Jesus.

I can see this going on and on and on, so whats its worth, i apologise, i suppose the written word is easy to be misinterpreted when reading on such forums. I will take into account any potential future sensitivity issues from forum members and structure my sentences accordingly.

there, is that ok for you ?. :poke:

End of - ta. Let's move on :)

Cool

BTW - Just picked up my cruise control switch this morning and will be fitting it later this afternoon..... :)

So are the cars in your signature your current garage or past loves?

Fitted the cruise control this afternoon and have to say it's nice for once to have the model where the full retrofit wiring is already installed and present.

I opted to buy just the switch and halve the cost to £75 Vs the kit that includes harness and new lower cowling. The existing cowling has mould marks that exactly match the switch shape, so it was a 5 minute job to profile the housing to match.

Past loves unfortunately. It would be quite good as a current garage, not sure how i would use 3 golfs though ? I still am a massive fan of vw's, probably noticed that from owning 3 golfs !....the TT was a car i fell in love with the minute it came onto our UK roads, however that dream soon turned into a nightmare due to the TT's reliability, thought about getting another but couldnt do with all the heartache.

The 3 Series was a nice car (325CI Sport coupe) but it did feel a little boring in the driving dept, was a nice cruiser though. So i started looking for a car with some more driving excitement, the sort of car that would make you drive to your local shop and come back hours later beacuse you took the longest way back possible purely because of the driving pleasure. Hence why i bought a Z4. Did consider other cars however:-

Boxster: It would be quite an old model, probably a 2.5 / 2.7 (no match for a 3.0 Z) and the were a bit empty inside, i.e. no toys.
S2000: Nice car, revs to 9000rpm, however was too plasticy, due ot it been japanese probably, and not enough prestige with the badge.

I think i made the correct choice ? how about you ?

Would be an excessive garage then again who am I to talk with 4 cars/Jeeps...

Zed was a replacement for a 206GTi that I loved to bits. It was an early factory rally homologation build and had been Peugeot show prepared, different suspension, special paint (20 coats of paint and glaze...), etc. My daughter now has that so it's still on the drive, so make that 5 cars.

Chose the Zed over a Porshe Boxster as I could not get on with the shape and rumours of costs to run. Audi TT was on the list, but did not like the lines of the soft top; and the coupe - well pretty but it's a coupe and I wanted a roadster. Only other one was a Z3 but felt it was too small, older and rather basic when sat aside the Z4.

Not regrets on the buy decision - just love it and have pretty much rebuilt it to my personal spec over the last year.

If you find it difficult to hold your foot at a certain speed through speed cameras then you are sadly lacking in the driving skills department me thinks. CC is naff, end of.

easty027 that statement is just plain stupid and somewhat against the spirit of the board in personal insult, albeit no doubt positioned as a joke.

The majority of posters on this and previous threads like it, many retrofit it. You don't - just personal choice.

I think CC is great, even though I'm an enthusiastic and spirited driver. You would like it too if you commuted daily from Cambridge to Peterborough along the A14 with 70mph average speed cameras, and more lorries than you could shake a stick at.

lol Good read this thread, kind of feel sorry for the chap with the new car who started the thread though

Thanks for the stamps Phil :D

Cheers

Having travelled to Liverpool and back this week I have to agree with the majority, cruise control is worth it and has many benefits.

Better MPG due to constant throttle application.
As mentioned, RE roadworks and speed cameras.
Rests your right leg!
Takes some of the stress out of driving long distances, certainly put me into cruise control on the way back!

CC is my next project - I may end up paying a stealer to fit it though as I'm lazy - CC IMOH is a necessity in this country at the moment, when I drive up to the Midlands the average speed cameras are a nightmare - rumour has it they're going to appear on the M4 in Wales

Love my cruise control and once I get out of town, it's on. Sure returns better fuel mileage than not using it.

As to constant speed without--that's kinda hard as my right foot wants to sink lower than is advisable and the car hasn't a problem accommodating, either.

I love cruise control and miss it on this car (I have a field sales job so drive a lot) but I don't think the above is true, I think it’s the opposite. My last Supra had cruise and the problem is it keeps a constant set speed not throttle so I found it was less economical as on every hill you would effectively accelerate to keep at the same speed, also on some systems it will brake as you go downhill to also keep that set speed.

Not a big fan of c/c myself, unless you have a nice clear road, never found it to be more economical either . jmo :driving:

My MPG has gone up by around 4-5mpg since retrofitting on my //M... which equates to about 20% increase. :driving:

I saw a consistent 27mpg on a long run the other week, which is just crazy.. also had a throttle map reset though which I'm sure helped.

oh, and :hijacked: x 100

With cruise on models fitted with a sport button that tendency is much suppressed. Put it in sport and cruise and it's manic as it floors itself up hills to hold a speed.
