I've thought about this for a long time.
Now I'm gonna just say it.
The E85 / E86 is the most gorgeous Z4.
It looks lean and aggressive enough without unnecessary vents and scoops.
Tasteful aeronautics without going overboard.
Compared to the E89 -
Well that one looks like someone at BMW was trying too hard.
Bigger and lumpier ...Tarted up ..
There I said it .

Got to agree the E89 never appealed, For a start I like to put things in the boot and still be able to lower the roof.

There is still 150 liters or space with the roof down you know.

300 with the roof up.

As an E85 owner, I completely agree.

The E89 just doesn't do it for me. It's far too dignified! The E85/E86's have an evil look about them. A bit more racey.. :driving:

yep like the rest of us I receive regular comments from joe public, infact the petrol station attendant today remarked on how pretty a car it was

Never liked the E89... Not sure what it is but It's not a car I would consider after having the E85 :D

I got a OMG look at that car today!

Have to agree with you, but for me it just had to be an E86.
I know this may provoke some debate/abuse, but I just couldn't see the point of buying what should be a drivers' car that has had over 50% of its torsional stiffness removed just so you can get sunburn on your head if it isn't raining!
And the boot is much bigger.

I really like the E89 I just don't desire it.!!! Really pleased with the E85. It's strange this is the first car I have owned where I don't lust after the newer model.
