Hi All,

Spent the afternoon pawing over a Silver/Grey 2007 Z4M Roadster. Has all the options I wanted minus cruise control and the little nets in the footwells.

A spot of searching suggests that the cruise can be fitted but not very easily and only a handful of places know how to do this - is this still the latest position as my current 3.0 has cruise and I might miss it.... Also are the footwell nets easy to retrofit for completeness?

The vehicle has done 25k, what sort of things would I expect to need doing at this milagage. The running in service has been completed on time and its 10500 until the next Oil service so inspection I should have been completed in the not too distance past.

Wheels are in need of some TLC with a bit of light kerbing and some paint chips around the bolts, im told this would be sorted along with a full body mop and stone chip/dent repair as part of the AUC prep. I really like the car and seriously considering it if the right deal can be had, I have been offered 7k initially for my car which is trade however they are unable to discuss movement on cost to change until its been full prepped and their costs known (It may need front discs from my inspection). Is there any advice on how to bargain at a dealer or points/sweetners I could ask for to my advantage; all my previous purchases were private sales but this time the warantee and ease to change are bonuses.

Many thanks

Adam.

I guess it depends on the deal as to whether the part ex is good for you. Cruise can be retro fitted for about £400. My car has 27k on an 06 so has similar miles, a few stonechips on bonnet and front nose as you'd expect. Had new rear tyres but brakes are fine (and I drive it hard!) so unless there's a fault wouldn't expct it to need new discs yet.

Seats, carpets etc all fine with little sign of wear. No dings or dents, drives like new. You should be looking for the same standard or better! Good luck

That is the difference you have to expect a knock for that ease of sale.

To get a better deal is to sell yours privately but then you run the risk of losing the one you have found.

You don't say how much its up for it maybe priced right :)

remember they need to sell far more than you need to buy

having said that, if its really the car for you then don't let it go for the sake of a few hundred pounds

have you looked at others?

At 25k it should be just fine, with a few chips maybe (but touched in hopefully). If springs are originals expect at least one to need replacing in the next 10k miles @ approx £180 each from BMW incl fitting. They don't need fitting in pairs so can be done as and when one needs replacing

Thanks for the helpful replies guys, AUC checks were completed and it needed two front tyres (Contisport 3s), something with a suspension bush and a KDS alignment - brakes apparently have lots of life in them and just needed use to scrub them up. Car is getting a full valet, few bits of paint for stone chips and a small scuff on the front splitter, a body mop + wheel refurbs for some grazing.

Extra jobs I wanted done were to replace the wheel badges with the new style and galvanised paint the hubs to freshen them up + tank of fuel.

Dealer worked hard to arrive at the deal I wanted hence I snaffled it up and hope to pick it up monday should all the prep work go to plan :D

I'm like a kid waiting for christmas!

Monday is a very long way off - sleepless nights

get the dealer to send you some pics and get them posted on here

Great! Look forward to seeing some pics. Now get yourself booked in for a drive on the 10th April - 3 to choose from :)

Excellent! This is going to make our road trip to Le Mans all the more fun :D

From the pictures Ad has sent me, the M looks stunning

Sadly I still haven't got any pictures of it gleaming post prep work, here are a few pictures of it filthy pre AUC and prep (borrowed from the spec sheet) The wait is killing me and I am climbing the walls waiting for Monday to arrive, lets hope its not delayed!

Really pleased to have found my perfect M in my favourite Silver/Grey M colour, carbon leather interior and with all the options I wanted bar cruise (may get it fitted at a later date if its a problem), those quad exhausts are going to be getting a lot of autosol lovin' Did any M's come with the clear 3rd brake light? might look better if I changed that over perhaps to tie in with the side repeaters and headlamps.

Its a March 2007 registered car, 25k on the clock and has the following additional equipment.

Bluetooth phone prep + telematics
BMW Assist
CD changer
Extended storage
Loudspeaker system - BMW Professional
Navigation-system Professional
Park Distance Control (PDC). rear
Seat heating. front
Wind deflector

I would appreciate any detailling advice on what products to use to get that colour bodywork gleaming with a deep shine and lustre - thinking some Dodo Juice products may be in order and some Gliptone for the leather.

The bad news for Lucy and our trip to Le Mans is that the M boot is smaller; we may need to leave the hair straighteners at home as the tent and beer is rather more essential :P - that said the tunnel at Rouen will have some interesting video footage of the S54 at full battle cry to more than make up for the inconvience! :driving:  Its a shame the F355 isn't coming with us this year!

Fantastic stuff Adam! Very similar spec to the Z4MC I've just bought. The loudspeaker system is really good I think, makes me wonder if DSP really is that much better?

Silver Grey hides the dirt remarkably well, might be worth speaking to a detailer (or posting a Q on detailing world.co.uk) to find what products will make the paintwork/flecks really ping out.

I have Piano Black trim in mine, but saw one with the carbon structure dash trim: thought it looks good and liked how it's stitched to the dash

And get on the blower to the dealer to make sure the car is definitely on it's way for Monday – if not sooner!

The standard sound system in the Coupe seems really good compared to the Roadster - perhaps its the acoustics or improvements made on the facelife cars!

Since I already had Professional speaker package with DSP it was one of the items I wanted to keep, sounds great to me and it needs to have a decent bit of volume to overcome road and wind noise on the motorway with the roof down :)

Always been a fan of the carbon leather dash!

Don't you worry I have the dealer on speed dial ;)

Looks good mate. These car are amazing. Mine has been out the garage once in nearlt two weeks due to work and weather but this weekend the weather is good so bring it on and enjoy.

Gotta love silver grey. I use DJ products on mine, typically prep with Lime Prime and topped off with a coat of Rainforest Rub. Over at Detailing World there's people who layer waxes or use sealants then waxes to get that last few % of perfection but I run out of enthusiam after about 5 hours so these steps aren't for me. Here's a previous effort showing that I am hardly disgracing myself:

Not long been home, I believe this grin may need to be surgically removed - something to be said about driving at night with the roof down scudding along the coast listing to the rasp of the S54 :D :driving:

Here's a few piccies I took on my Iphone, will get some better ones at the weekend :)

Hmmm they all did (roadsters), yours must have been cracked and fixed with a red one instead of a clear one. Never mind 'cos it looks great, I Silver Grey and carbon leather is second favourite behind Titanium silver for me.
