Just bought a crashed M, New custom Angel Eyes pg10

I'm generally against Cat D's except in this instance it's a winner. Light damage and doing the work yourself makes it economically viable and known quality of work.

Hang onto it for years and makes a perfect way to get into an ///M at basement price.

Top effort :)

I think it will be important to keep a detailed portfolio of all works carried out. Will help ease any potential buyer's concern if you ever decide to sell up.

Exactly thats the plan :) also in my experience your more likely to get a more honest car if you buy one crashed! I've had a couple of repaired cat ds both have been bodged and even my unrecorded ones have had bad repairs (most ppl wouldn't spot) but now ive had 2 cars that I've bought accident damaged which I can repair properly without bodging and the rest is faultless. So out of all the cars I've had the crashed ones have been the most honest if that makes sense?

Apparently the jag engine had a top end rattle (vvt?) And the previous owner had an engine lined up, removed the old engine then the sale fell through. We happened to have an engine for it ;)

Well its only a good idea if you can fix it yourself otherwise it wouldn't be financially viable. Hense insurance company not paying to fix it! But yeah this car was a bargain as we took a gamble and its turned out well given the damage.

Do you know the origin of this car? I seen a black MR just minutes after the aftermath of a smash up here in Aberdeen earlier this summer.

I don't im afraid I sort of hoped it may be recognised on the forum but nobody has mentioned anything. I believe it belonged to a woman judging by the evidence in the car.

Hahahaha  didn't want to insinuate anything. ..

You must have some vision  from the initial pics I'd have thought no way can that be repaired but you've proved me wrong, remove the damaged parts and it looks a different prospect, my hat goes off to you, looking forward to seeing your progress

7K for a M is a great bargain, just hope you can sell it without too much problem when you eventually decide to

My dad has done this sort of thing for many years haha. We didn't even view it as it was right at the bottom of the country we just took the gamble! But yeah as soon as the panels were removed youican see its perfect. Ive got a pic with both the door and wing off I'll post it in a bit :)

I'm not worried about resale value. If I was to sell it now I'm sure I'd more than get my money back but I won't be selling it for a good while I wouldn't have thought. I missed my old zed as soon as it went :'(

Why? For rescuing an abandoned and injured zed and nursing her back to health? She may leave with a cat d scar but other than that she'll make a full recovery
