Just bought a crashed M, New custom Angel Eyes pg10

Bit more wet sanding to get rid of dust nibs and stuff. Polished up with fastcut plus. Still needs refining

That looks great

Thanks. Only spending a few hours at a time on it recently. Spent ages witb my dad with panel alignment making sure everything will go before I do any more paintwork

Been poncing around with my headlights today, opening up a 300 quid headlight is a bit nerve racking! Also made a tint spray and tinted the hockey sticks:

That pic of the halo is one of my led rinds behind the factory ae diffuser. Looks so much better but unfortunately the inner halos on the factory hid are smaller :( so unless I can source another pair of outer factory diffusers im going to have to use the fat ugly diffusers from the us as they would look mismatched against each other.

Some fantastic work... No orange peel at all... You did a better job then the bodyshop i use!

I do like the stock halo diffuser look too... Looks like the new BMW's with the fancy led halo's

My dad used to work in a bodyshop and he said I've done a better job than most bodyshops would. Mainly because I've put the time and effort in. It's not that bidyshops can't do it, it's that time is money and most customers don't notice small imperfections. Thanks btw :)

Difference between the big fat aftermarket diffusers and the oem ones 20131201_211634_zps0e59c300.jpg20131201_211651_zpsde24b4bb.jpg20131201_211712_zpsa0f62e00.jpg

Have to say from the pictures the oem one does look clearer and a better quality, and the rings fit perfectly in them... Look oem!

Could you not shave the other diffusers down on a sanding wheel?

Although would you really notice them once fitted in the headlights?

Thats what I was thinking, shaving down the new diffusers will probably work. I may shave one down per headlight to a similar size to the oem on and use one of each if I can get them to look similar enough.

The other option is to see if I can source a pair of led rings the same diameter as the smaller inner diffuser. Then they would look like they came fom the factory with them. But I have a feeling the next size down would be too small :/

Technology has moved on, but I made my AE from CCFL tubes. Beauty of doing them that way was there are ready sources of tube of almost any OD and almost any thickness of tube. I just found a manufacturer and specified something like 80mm od and 4mm tube. Might be a way of you getting and exact size to fit behind the plastic trim/diffuser.

No need luckily the next size down is bang on. Just measured the factory diffuser and the inner one is 70mm so I've just ordered another pair :) I think that'll work soo much better for these particular headlights. Wish I'd have looked into this before I started. I just bought the car and followed the info on the ae thread but it turns out if you have facelift bixenons you can buy a set of rings from the uk for 31 quid including next day delivery that fit perfectly behind the factory diffusers!
