Had the zed in the dealers this afternoon to run yet more tests since the yellow engine management light has returned yet again. I was so sure it was fixed as the engine has been running really well with no real noticeable idling issues, so was real shock when the warning light came back on yet again.
This time they have said the Exhaust Manifold has a hairline crack which is the cause of it tripping the warning light.
They said they had looked at the manifold twice before, but that it was extremely rare for a 3.0si to suffer from a cracked manifold as they are pretty bullet proof, however they had been advised by BMW from the tests they were told to run to change the other parts first. Only consolation for me is that all this work is covered under AUC thank God.
Since the dealer will also be repairing my rear end accident damage I suffered earlier this week, I hope to get both jobs done at the same time which hopefully will be in the next three weeks
To recap my journey so far, the parts that have been changed to date under AUC are
Rocker Cover Gasket
Inlet Manifold Gasket
Fuel Pump
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Fuel Pressure Sensor
Fuel Filter
Mass Air Flow Meter
And finally the Exhaust Manifold
I know I have said it so many frigging times before, but I really, really do hope that after over 6 months of frustration and absolute roller coaster of a journey, that this will finally be the fault resolved. I know it is easy to knock dealers, but I have to say that it has been a hell of a journey for the dealer as well and I can't praise them enough for their excellent customer service and support that has been offered to me, first class
