Jingles White 2.0i to 3.0Si conversion is FINALLY done!

Thanks everybody! I’m glad I did it and didn’t just “buy another 3.0Si and paint it”

It now finally has the engine to back the looks

It did cost a few grand but defo worth it considering how long I wanted it done, and the fact my 2.0 engine died (suspected piston rings) so it was the perfect time to just do it!

The wiring was the hardest thing and came with a 4 figure bill alone :headbang:

Sent the logbook off today so it’s just a waiting game now, hopefully the covid delay doesn’t affect it much.

I’m interested to see what the sound difference is between my 2.0 quad and the 3.0Si straight through quad (when it’s done)

Nice one. I guess now you'll get down Attleborough High Street at a velocity to match the noise level. :D

Your friend who did the work has done an excellent job. I assume he's done similar before? Was there much electrical and computer-y stuff to sort out?

Look forward to seeing it in the flesh, so if you're down Hargham Road way, pop in for a cuppa so I can have a nosey.

The guy who done it has a unit down west carr road and had his own Z4, an older pre facelift m54 engined car which he put a supercharger on, but has broken/sold it now. Once it’s on the road I’ll pop round and put it side by side with yours, there’s a couple of wires that I would like to check are in the correct place (not sure if they go over or under etc.)

The wiring was done in Norwich by EAC, and from what I’ve been told it was a nightmare are and it was much more work than anticipated

Hopefully the weather starts warming up soon and I’ll see you around town with the roof down! :driving:

Ours is an M54, so may be different, but you're still more than welcome to pop round.

Never keen on full resprays, not for any real or valid reason I just dont like it

Makes sense to have done it if the 2l was dead or dying anyway plus it really will be a whole new car, was there any changes needed for the suspension with the added weight of the 3l or just a geometry correction?

Wiring is the one thing that always gives me the fear with something like this hahaha, its so complicated now with the various computers and control units

Another thought................
Is it the same diff ratio or did that get changed too?
I remember from my old Capri days, dropping a 2.0 diff into a 2.8i. Lost a little top end, but hell it got there quick!

Glad you didn't let your engine woes get the better of you Jamie. I remember reading when you said the 2.0 had gone bad. Your car is mint. Alpine mint of course.

Good work Jingle. Love it.

As you know, I have the 3.0i SE Manual in manufactured alpine white and just ticked over 35,000 miles. Do you know how many 3.0i SE's were made out of the 51 for the UK.... I am now even more intrigued how rare mine might be if there was only one Si. What is the difference between the SE and SI?

SE v SI? Pre Facelift / Facelift?

As mentioned, I'm still bloody curious how many white Pre Facelift 3.0i Roadsters were made for the UK....mine could be 1 of 1 or not much more in view that there were only 51 alpine white models across 4 engine sizes / pre facelift / facelift. Does anyone know where this information can be found?

Si is an engine spec, so the si was available as se & sport variants - all si cars are facelifts (post 2006)

Finally spotted you last Sunday, coming out of the Besthorpe turn on the slip road.
I was in the black 2.2i, waving madly over the top of the windscreen. :D
Didn't get much chance to view yours but it definitely sounded like the exhaust is working.
Glad it's back on the road where it belongs.
