Agree with Bing. I remember reading Chattles in Performance Car in the 90s. Funny as hell. Not everyone's taste but clearly popular. Didn't see this level of support when wossy was sacked for dodgey phone calls. Those that don't like don't have to watch.

Over half a million people have signed that petition now. The viewers don't seem to think he's past it...

there is no petition to get rid of him, I suspect it would have at least as many votes

There is if you google it.. Only has 750 votes so far though.

I love him and his f*** you attitude.

Might be because he's on exactly the same wavelength as me.

If the Beeb sack him do you think he'll give a damn? Of course not, he'll go and set something up elsewhere. There's a lot more deserving candidates for the sack in the BBC.

Edit: it's generally do-gooders and lefties who don't like him, and that's fine by me.

Nicely stoked there, OG
BTW, completely agree

to me who anybody who thumps somebody should be sacked, end of story

just cos he is famous or makes money it should have no influence

+me
Watched an edition of the new 5th gear. Yikes! Do you really want pretending to drive somewhere and doing some pretty rubbish 'tests' to replace top gear with the 3 stooges. Are you telling me Tiff and his cronies give better entertainment and insight? You must be f**king bonkers!

There's a place for additional motoring shows that are more serious, factual and cover greater mainstream motoring (how Top Gear started out). I'm amazed that with the £ we british spend on cars every year there aren't a lot more car programmes on BBC / ITV, Sky1, etc. But 5th gear is no competition to Top Gear. Nice to watch occasionally, but not the same.

+1

I bet the BRAKE lot are having a wonderful time :D They must hate him.

The petition is now over 500,000, 95% of which I suspect is an anti BBC (read Establishment) vote and not because our Jezza is the most popular guy in UK.

Does he really need to go anywhere if the BBC sack him?
Hes worth a fortune , its not like he wont be able to pay his mortgage and needs a job.
I was about to say it wont be long till he retires but just checked hes only 54!!
Hes had a hard paper round eh?

We are the licence fee payers and I'd be shocked if the BBC would let him go, personally can't see it. Who else is more popular on the Beeb apart from Bing's favourite, Ronnie Corbett.

This is where the BBC is in difficulty, if this turns out to be the case they have no choice but to discipline him IF a complaint is bought against him by the producer and you can bet the BBC don't want to shoot the golden goose. In most businesses, probably all I would say, physical assault is classified as gross misconduct and is grounds for instant dismissal and rightly so.

I've been to Top Gear thru a producer friend and from what I hear it's apparently my friend but I'm not inclined to text him to see what's what. But like what's been said it's not a big deal in the big scheme of things.

If the world wasn't so stupidly Politically Correct ..... Then both parties would have been summoned into a room, talked it out, appologies made, injured party given a few rides around the track with the stig in something very expensive, a few jokes made on the next episode of Top Gear and the producer paid £100k for his exclusive story from the Daily tabloids. Top Gear back on the air straight away.

Because of the world we live in, here we are with cancelled episodes, millions of £ being lost, fans being disappointed, the BBCs brand being damaged and no end in sight.

The sort of stuff Clarkson is ironically famous for hating so much in the first place.
