Yes - it will be made at the Castle Brom factory along with the XF's and XJ's.

Birmingham is often touted to have more miles of canals than Venice

I think it's a different car and market to the Porsche. Still weight aside the 911 Carrera turbo with similar performance is £118 Vs £79k, so will be very competitive.

I agree CJ, I think Jaguar have seen Porsche move the 991 up a price category and there is now a big gap between a £45k Boxster and a £75k Carrera. It is this gap I think they are trying to exploit. There is very little performance difference between a 991 Carrera and a Boxster S so it's difficult to see how Porsche could plug this gap themselves.

The 997 Turbo though is considerably faster than the top-of-the-range F Type will be. You have to look beyond the 0-60's (3.7 Porsche, 4.2 Jag) and look at something like the 30-130 times. I think the 997 did 0-100 in 7.3s whereas with a 1650kg kerb weight and less power than the 997 i can't see the Jag cracking 9s. Doesn't sound a lot but on the road the reality is the jag won't know which way the Porsche went. The 997 Turbo is £110k at the moment rather than £118k and Turbo S (530 hp) is £126k.

A better comparison might be with the 991s which is a similar price and the performance will be very similar.

Personally I think the V6 sounds great and the V8 sounds gash (way too "farty" exhaust note).

Twice now on the way home in marlborough ... F type convert in navy, completely undisguised. First time it was parked up, tonight it was parked but with a chap in it. Absolutely stunning! Has anybody else seen this?

They're doing a lot of testing and Jaguar uses the Cotswolds. I've been seeing these for a couple of weeks on Trade plates between Cirencester and Tetbury. They tested the X type around here too.

I thought they were on release now or I'd have snapped them too!
 
Well that's two days this week so far so I'll try get some snaps of it if I see it again. This had no trade plates ... Didn't think they were released either

My mates dad is director of hybrid technology at jaguar so he gets his hands on all the top end jag's including pre production ones

He rocked up at dans house in a F type today, apparently it sounds like 'rolling thunder'

Just did a DVLA check on the reg no and it just shows up as a jaguar with no model type.Was just wondering if they would be calling it an F-type.
 
That's gorgeous, and the colour-coded hood is ace :thumbsup:

Guess it is still a pre-prod car though as the panel gaps alignment round the front wheel are shocking !

They should be rolling down the line very soon. Jag dealers have placed their initial orders for delivery in March/April.

Any you see now will be pre prod types. Won't say too much as I was priviledged to be amonght the pre prods a month ago and reading the snagging sheets of exactly what needs fixing and sorting for production.

Totally gorgeous in the flesh close up :thumbsup: Just too pricey from new :thumbsdown:
 
I was traveling back from London Tuesday evening on the M42 and an F Type came past me in the outside lane!! To start with I wondered what it was from the back as it was unmarked but soon recognised it. It was getting dark at the time but even so it looked fantastic on the road. I pulled out and followed it for a bit. It was the V6 as it had the 2 central pipes at the rear. It pulled into the middle lane so I followed it and the driver suddenly floored it. It changed down and the sound was awesome!! I wish my 6 cylinder sounded like that!! It then pulled into the inside lane and slowed down. It was very dirty so obviously a test vehicle and had what looked like trade plates (white background, red writing) although I could hardly read the plate as it was so dirty!

Very nice car! 8)
 
well ive spent the last hour in one on the test track and they are wicked...... i chicken out at 175mph :evil: :evil: :evil:
